From Pt Roberts (WA) Marketplace. Poured a thin, tan head over a body of clear, dark amber. Faint nose, could barely scent anything. Maybe an inkling of malt and the barest hint of the bourbon. Mouthfeel was at least rich and smooth, probably the best thing going on here. Tasted less sweet than expected , and the bourbon was more evident here. Sour finish. Too pricey for what this one delivers.

Starts out with a medium dark brown pour, interesting aroma, but there are problems in the flavor department. Normally I like sweet brews but this one just seems to clash with its self. Bitterness is present but in an off kind of astringent way. Most likely will not revisit.

Sampled on 3/12/2011. This English Strong Ale pours a medium brown color from a 22oz bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is fruity, caramel, and sweet with a touch of spices. A medium bodied English Strong Ale. The malts are caramel, fruity and sweet. The hops are herbal and earthy. Touch of holiday spices, some wood and some bourbon. Touch of oak tannins. Good carbonation. A nice solid drinkable winter ale. Nice Sipping beer. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.
