On a sunny afternoon at Hanlan’s Point Stadium, a legendary home run was hit out of the park and into the waters of Toronto Harbour. To this day, the world’s most expensive baseball has never been recovered. With a pleasant aroma of freshly-cut peaches, this semi-sweet cider is balanced with a tart finish and a subtle apple undertone. In 1875, there were over 375,000 peach trees in Ontario and not one of those varieties remains today. Like that famous home run, the notion of being “lost but not forgotten” inspired the crafting of Stadium Island Peach.

Can from the LCBO. At first pour, the white cap lasted way longer than any other cider I have had. Clear, golden colour and the aromas are full of peaches. It does smell like candy peach notes, but ingredients lists peaches and natural peach flavours. A little truer peach juices in the taste and not as strong. The apple cider base shows in the finish with some decent sourness. Nicely balanced peach cider.

The cider pours a clear light gold colour with orange highlights. There is a thin white ring for a head, and excessive tiny bubble effervescence…..Don Ho would be proud! The aroma is ripe peaches, and light yeast. The mouthfeel is very much like a carbonated soda, overly carbonated and lively. The flavour is sweet peach. It boils down to this as being, in my opinion, an alcoholic peach soda…..and I can live with that!
