had this as Speyside 011 and Macallan, i would have bet money they were different, but i guess aging can change the subtleties .. . pours black, light lacing.. . sweet burnt caramel, burnt sugar, dark lifeless coffee, and other evil things.. . good stuff.. .
Okay, don't panic! To find Flanders, you just have to think like Flanders...

Pours a deep, opaque sable with a fairly thick and somewhat persistent tan head. Aroma is strong and smoky with undertones of coffee and unsweetened chocolate as well as a firm overtone of whiskey. Flavor is smoky and a little malty with a firm whiskey bite as well as hints of unsweet chocolate, coffee and toffee - downright lip-smacking. Texture is thick and oily-smooth, leaving a good tingle as it goes down.

Another exquisite and fine ale to try from BrewDog. Aroma is strong and pungent with some vanilla notes as well as some milk chocolate and strong oak with creamy cocoa coming through as well as some slight licorice as well as some leather. Appearance is pitch black in color when held to the light and is very creamy looking and thick with a medium-sized head on top that is a light-brown in color and remains leaving thick and foamy lacing on the glass. Mouthfeel is surprisingly lighter than I expected and very dry with tons of oaky complexity as well as balance with a palate that is creamy and smooth but very, very dry-like but satisfying. Flavor is full of vanilla and oakiness with some milk chocolate and cocoa with an aftertaste that is malty sweet with some coffee and licorice with a finish that is very dry and damn tasty. Overall, and very fine ale here and one of the more complex brews I have had in sometime for sure but I am not sure it is worth the price tag even though this is a such a good beer; highly recommended for sure and this beer takes beer in general to a new high.
