Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8
Enjoyed at the brewery, pouring a very dark brown, almost black with a very dark brown head, average stay and a bubbly ring around. The bourbon really shows in the nose with the richness and alcohol. Cocoa powder, hints of dark fruits balanced with the vanilla felt in the end. The bourbon also shows in the flavours with the alcohol warming, raisin notes over chocolate malts and vanilla lingering, softening things in the finish. Also, some licorice comes out in time. The mouthfeel is slightly chalky in the end, with a silky smoothness to start. Most times, bourbon barrels do not come out strongly, but in this one, it is present. This would be an awesome beer to have at home, in front of the fireplace... with a cigar.
