Wit, or white, bier is a Belgian style unfiltered wheat beer. (The style is called “white” because of the whitish color the yeast gives the beer.) “Phil’s” is brewed with both malted and un-malted wheat and flavored with coriander and bitter orange peel. The resulting beer is refreshing and flavorful. And by the way, it’s not named after that Phil.

Tasted on tap at Nashville Brewpub. Pours a hazy yellow gold color. Small sized rocky head. Aroma is fruity, lemon, lemongrass, some orange peel as well. A medium bodied wit. Malts are fruity and sweet. Lots of orange and orange peel flavors. Touch of coriander and clove. Crisp and clean. Light and refreshing. Nice lively carbonation. Good balance. Nice dry finish. Very tasty, not too sweet, wit. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.
