Sampled on 1/29/2011. This pumpkin beer pours a medium orange gold color from a 22oz bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head. Aroma is fruity, sweet, some spices, maybe some pumpkin. A medium bodied pumpkin beer. The malts are fruity, caramel and sweet. The hops are herbal. Not sure if it is because they made this beer with pumpkin juice instead of the real fruit, but there is NOT a lot of pumpkin flavor here. You can taste the cinnamon, nutmeg, brown sugar and molasses but not a whole lot of pumpkin. This is sort of typical of most pumpkin beers; they seem to be more a vehicle for the spices WITH the pumpkin than the pumpkin itself. I am not ragging on Bootleggers here in particular, but on most producers of Pumpkin beer in general. This one just seems to a ‘best’ example of the trend. Needless to say this beer is not doing a lot for me. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.
