Steel Wheels E.S.B. - Hybrid E.S.B. The music of The Steel Wheels and the beer from Blue Mountain are both original and handcrafted, with inspired Americana flavors from the heart of Virginia. Our collaboration E.S.B. draws from the past with British crystal malts and Scottish yeast, but uses American hops to put our own stamp on the creation. Like this beer, The Steel Wheels draw you in from the first sip … not because their music is loud or in your face, but because it's surprising and original, and because its inspirations – a story, a character, a memory – have been brewed with just the right ingredients. Take time to drink slowly and listen truly. Wherever you are, get ready to sing along, to harmonize. Maybe even get up and dance.

Clear brownish red, very thin rocky cap that leaves good lace. Orange peel and oil aroma with candy, caramel, and lemon. Sugary right off the bat: bitter is a supporting actor, roasted malts and citrus oil with some wood and nut notes finishing with a trace of char and some sour aftertaste. Sticky, medium bodied, fine carbonation.

I had this beer on draught at Beamers 35 in Roanoke, VA. This was a nice ESB; however, with biters being on of my favorite styles, I am a bit picky too. This beer was too sweet. Needed more of that english hop backbone. Not bad though.
