Our flagship beer is a refreshing Golden brew that uses a blend of the finest Canadian and German malts giving it a smooth mild body that balances the crisp, pleasant German hop finish. The hops used in this local brew are soon to be grown at our very own hop yard at the Phillips farm in Manotick.

One of my local breweries, but unfortunately they still haven’t found out the meaning of quality control. You can come back to the same beer week after week and notice huge differences in both colour and flavour. The beer is usually a medium to dark gold with a slight off-white head. Aroma is usually cereal mnalt with some floral fragrant hops. Flavour is usually on the malty side with a hoppy balance in the finish.

Pours a clear golden colour with a medium sized head that has no retention and no lacing. Aroma is grainy and slightly fruity. Same with the flavour, also a hint of grassy and floral hops. It has a little more to offer than most lagers but still not enough to tempt me back.

The beer pours a translucent red-tinged golden colour with a half inch white cap that lingers. The aroma is cereal malt, weak caramel, weak floral hops, and a mustiness. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is caramel, yeast, and grains. Unremarkable, yet not bad at all. -

First beer of this brewery to be available at the LCBO, in a 6-pack. Pours a gold colour with a foamy white head, average retention and minimal lace. Big grainy cereal malt nose with a little grassy hop in the background. Pretty much the same for the taste. Nice bread malt with the hops in the finish. Aromas of caramel malt eventually come out. A big step ahead of macro lagers, for a typical lager.

This is the only Big Rig brew I did not try at the brewpub. Instead, I purchased a growler to take home with me. :) Opened her up just a few days later. Pours a light golden colour, with not much too head, but creamy nonetheless. Malts do come through strong from the beginning, and getting a little bit of fruitiness in the taste. Minimal carbonation. Hops aren't quite out there yet. From brewer's description, they will soon be using hops grown from Mr. Chris "#4" Philips' own farm near Ottawa! Will try this one again at the brewpub.
