Consider this the fuel for your inner crime fighter. The Dark Night is our second beer featuring Bridghead Coffee. This time, we blend their rich, Nicaraguan dark roast wirh our robust and chocolaty imperial stout to create a complex and spicy breakfast beer with a finish that’s all coffee with just a hint of sweetness to tie it all together. The Dark Night: because it’s not the beer-o (hero ;)! ) Ottawa needs right now; it’s the one it deserves.

Thanks to PaleAleRider for sharing this one. Pours a dark syrupy brown colour with a small mocha head and minimal lacing. Coffee aromas over roasted malts. After breathing, darker fruits appear (dates, raisins). Silky smooth mouthfeel with a little stickiness in the finish. The coffee is a little better hidden in the taste, with roasted malts and notes of sweet dark fruits. Well-blended hops giving some nice bitterness. Quite a smooth Imperial Stout collaboration with a great local coffee roaster.

Pours very little head and has a very dark colour, pitch black almost. Weak lacing. Aromas of coffee immediately noticeable, as well as chocolate notes and dark roast malts. Flavours start off quite smooth, light vanilla hints and definitely coffee, but blended well with the chocolate and roasty notes. Also some hints of spices. Quite lively carbonation. Full bodied mouthfeel. Slick and oily sensation on the palate. Alcohol content is barely apparent, very well hidden.
