In 2020, like many great breweries, we partook in the Black is Beautiful stout recipe collaboration. For that original stout, we teamed up with the group Ottawa Young Black Professionals and local Roastery Izere Coffee. During that process, we learned a great deal about each other's work and how we should collaborate more in a post-COVID Future. From these meetings we also discovered a mutual love for Bourbon and the beers aged within the barrels. This led to the decision to take a small amount of the initial beer and age it in bourbon barrels. But with this being BTP, these were no ordinary barrels (why do ordinary), for after the bourbon they then housed some spectacular maple syrup. With the ageing now completed, we are ready for the release... The Barrel ageing process has lead to some stunning results. Expect a delicious, luxurious beverage, that pours a dark rich colour, with aromas and sweetness that perfectly pairs with the boozy finish. This is a beer that should not be missed out on. Perfect for warm nights in with family and with every 500ml bottle sold a donation will head off to Ottawa Young Black Professionals.

500ml bottle from the brewery pouring a dark brown colour with cola highlights. Small light beige head leaving a ring of tiny bubble foam, small lacing spots. Roasted malt aromas with molasses, bourbon sweetness and enough hops. The mouthfeel is fairly thin for such a heavy stout, with the hoppy dry finish. Roasted barley smooth flavours with the bourbon sweet finish lingering, just not syrupy. A pretty thin stout for the alcohol content with the bourbon showing off. I guess you could say this one goes down nicely, and not heavy.
