Like most beer lovers have experience, until we were first introduced to Belgian-style beers we had no idea that beer could have so many big, bodacious flavours and aromas. When designing this Belgian-inspired ale we blended a mixture of Brown and Crystal malts with a touch of Roasted Barley to bring some depth. Juicy and fragrant Tradition and Chinook hops were added with a deft touch to bring a balancing bitterness to all this malty sweetness. Fermentation was made possible with a true Trappist Ale yeast strain creating classically spicy and fruity characters. Belgian Brown pours with life and excitement building a rush of foam immediately. The beer is ruby brown and hazy with flashes of mahogany and red brick. Its large pillowy head is tinted auburn. The nose shows off yeast driven aromas immediately of clove, spice, and ripe fruits. The flavour brings out more dark fruits like raisin and plum, but also hints at molasses and Demerara brown sugar. A medium body with plenty of carbonation allows Belgian brown to dance across your palate with a warming touch of alcohol in the middle, but finishes with relative ease and a brisk end. Malts: 2-Row Pale, CaraBrown, Aromatic Malt, Crystal 120, Crystal 60, Honey Malt, Roasted Barley Hops: Tradition, Chinook Yeast: Trappist Ale (WLP 500) Strength: 6.4% abv Bitterness: 25 IBU Color: 60 SRM Original Gravity: 15.0 Plato (1.061 SG) Final Gravity: 3.1 Plato (1.012 SG)

Growler. Colour - cloudy brown, no cap. Aroma - yeast, caramel, herbs. Mouthfeel - medium bodied. Flavour - sweet and malty, some nuttiness. Overall - excellent ale despite the macro connections.

The beer pours a hazed brown colour with a thin tan ring for a head. The aroma was yeast, sugar, dark fruits, and caramel. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavour is very similar to Koningshoeven Dubbel, which is a good thing...dark fruits, sweet, with some yeastiness.
