This collaborative project from BEAU’S ALL NATURAL BREWING and Bridgehead Coffee brings together a strong doppelbock beer and a blend of three flavourful organic fair-trade coffees to create a bold taste and aroma. History & Style The base beer for this offering is a traditional dark German doppelbock, brewed to 8% abv. Coffee was steeped in the kettle after boiling to add a whole new dimension of complex flavours. Tasting Notes Aromas and flavours of chocolate, dried fruit, warming alcohol and burnt toffee meld with pronounced, pure coffee flavours. Chocolate and coffee linger on the palate after each sip. Food Pairings Perfect for an after-dinner pairing with sweet, rich desserts, coffee cake, tiramisu and chocolate. Tried this one at the Bridgehead on Sparks street in Ottawa, February 2012 (as their launch to this brew). Pours a deep copper colour with a creamy off-white head that is long lasting. The nose had great cacao scent with coffee notes and light fruitiness. The taste has nice coffee hints with smooth bitterness. Pretty nice collaboration with these two great local brewmasters.
