Sahti is a traditional beer style from Finland, brewed with a variety of malts, bright juniper berries, and resinous juniper boughs. It is one of the world’s oldest continuously brewed beers. History & Style Sahti has a history that goes back to the 16th century, when it was brewed in hand-made wooden vessels and filtered through juniper boughs. Our certified organic version of this ancient ale is brewed with barley, rye, and wheat malts, and flaked oats. Locally foraged juniper boughs were used to replicate the traditional brewing method, and organic juniper berries added in the boil. We first brewed Jänis in 2017 as an exclusive beer for Beau’s Oktoberfest. The label is inspired by Scandinavian design and the art of folk craft – Jänis is the Finnish word for hare. Tasting Notes Jänis pours deep orange with a white head. The aroma is a spicy medley of citrus, pepper and clove. The flavour is bright and refreshing, with elements of fruit and pepper. The finish is clean and crisp. INGREDIENTS Local spring water, organic barley, rye and wheat malts, organic oats, organic juniper berries, organic hops, brewer's yeast. MALTS Pilsner, munich, rye, wheat, acidulated (all organic) HOPS Organic perle YEAST Hefeweizen ale yeast

Part of Winter mixed pack. Pours a large frothing bubbly beige head, good retention, pale golden appearance. Lively carbonation. Thick dirty lacing. Aromas are floral and herbal, notes of grass and subtle spices. Flavours are sweet, floral, some grass and herbs, a little bit fruity, juniper, some hints of berries. Medium carbonation. Mild bitterness. Not too bad.

Nice to see this style of Finnish beer. Pours a hazy amber colour with golden highlights. The frothy head is pretty white with decent retention and some foamy lacing. Banana aromas over sweet caramel malts, light spices and hints of berries. Pretty much like a Hefeweizen so far. The taste is similar as well, but the juniper seems to show up a little bit more. Still, very mild and wish this would be stronger in this one - as love this in gin. It is pretty nice to have this... like a Hefe but not as rich, and with hints of berries.
