History & Style: E.S.B. is an English-style pale ale. Despite the fact that E.S.B. stands for Extra Special Bitter, the style is actually renowned for achieving great balance of malt sweetness and hop bitterness. Our version of this classic style is made with Goldings hops and fermented with English Ale yeast. The label art is a nod to the iconic and quirky history of British motoring. Tasting Notes: ESB pours clear copper with a tight white foam. The aroma offers both biscuity malt and floral hop notes. The flavour features balanced caramel sweetness and hop bitterness. The finish is remarkably smooth. Food Pairings: Cauliflower and potato curry, shepherd’s pie, steak and kidney pie. INGREDIENTS Local spring water, organic barley malts, organic roasted barley, organic hops, brewer’s yeast. MALTS Pale ale, caramel 60, acidulated, caraaroma (all organic) HOPS Organic goldings YEAST English ale yeast

Part of their Winter 2017-18 mixed pack. Pours a clean amber colour with a warm yellow cap, great stay and thick foamy lace. The green grassy hops are present in the nose, juts a tad over the sweet caramel malts. Hints of dark fruits. The taste is actually pretty hoppy for the style, with the dryness going down nicely. Harder to taste the maltiness. Some notes of rye grain spiciness. Does get better tasting, balanced as it breathes.
