In Flanders, "Ezel" {donkey} is a nickname given to specific people or even entire village communities. However, as the people of this area, the word "Ezel" symbolizes not so much stupidity, but patient and dogged perseverance, a perseverance that is quite conscious of its own quality. The same applies to this ale: brewed from raw materials of the highest quality, it has a mellow taste that shows a real personality.

poured pretty yellow for a white. average at best - the yeast, coriander and/or citrus just isn't very assertive, but there's really nothing that takes away from it either. falls just short.

Another recent entry into the Southern Ontario beer market - and witbiers seem to be all the rage. It isn't as sweet as a German wheat beer, but has the same colour and mouthfeel.

The beer poured a cloudy golden-orange with a thin white head. The aroma was slightly sweet, wheat malt, and citrus. The mouthfeel was medium-bodied, and medium carbonation. The flavour was slightly sour wheat, with some citrus and spice hints -

Hazy orangeish colour with small white head. Aroma is acidic and quite sour wheat along with some citrus fruits. Flavour is the same with enourmous acidicness. Still a pleasant witbier.

Another trade-beer from my buddy Darren -- this one being a rather typical Belgian-esqe Wheat Beer. Label features a donkey and a duck, so it can't be that bad, can it...? :)
Pours aggressively (not surprisingly), with a huge foundation of foam, and tons of Belgian-ish coriander. In fact, it's this coriander flavor profile that represents my biggest complaint about this beer. It's one thing to have a bit of a coriander/orange accent -- it's something altogether different to have a beer completly over-welmed by a spice..., yes, even something as calm and staid as coriander. Not bad, just distracting.
But overall, this is a nice beer, that I can see being quite refreshing on a hot Summer day in Western Europe.
