Aroma is fruity and tangy, apple and orange with an undertone of barleywine. It pours a dark cinnamon brown with a fluffy, pale tan head that doesn't stick around for long. Flavor is quite fruity with a nice alcohol kick and a slightly sweet malty undertone. Texture is smooth and short on fizz, but I had this bottle squirreled away for a while before discovering it. A tasty and pleasing ale.

2009 Vintage: Odd intricate ale that starts off great but a few quirks come forward toward the end of the bottle. I'd recommend splitting it with a friend. Hazy copper brown body, thin lasting head and spotty lacing. Dark fruit and woody aromas with a touch of Fresca, light rye bread and toffee....as odd as this combination is, I really enjoyed the aromas. Full bodied, sturdy and firm with a rounded out smoothness. Robust malts, nutty and a stinging hop bite. Woody along with some white grapes and a noticeable amount of Crystal malt.

I was expecting more out of this one than I received. A brownish beer, clear, with a smnall head. The aroma is caramel malt, some hops, and a little skunkiness. The flavour had a metallic malt ring to it, with a small bitter finish - but unsatisfying.

Bottle courtesy of goryshkewych: Poured a deep clear copper color ale with an average foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of sweet caramel malt with some subtle notes of toffee. Taste is also dominated by some mediums sweet caramel malt notes with light toffee notes also noticeable. Some very light acidic notes were also noticeable which might indicate the start of an infection. Average body with medium carbonation and no apparent alcohol. A bit short on character for this style.

Gift from Dansting. Pours a clear brown with very little head. Aroma is sweet and yeasty (for lack of a better term). Flavor is somewhat fruity, but the fizzy mouthfeel takes away from it. Still a decent beer. On a personal note, when visiting the brewery, the bartender gave me an autographed bottle of the dude on the bottle.

Sampled at KPs. We tried to get Gez over to try the olde big dicks but she wouldn’t budge. A copper colored beer. The aroma is caramel, toffee, and dark fruit. Flavor contains some alcohol notes along with some carmael, chocolate, and toffee. A somewhat yeasty presence to the beer. A little thin for the style but not bad.

Pours with a spicy and off kilter aroma, where's the malt? or at least the fruit or hops? Brown pour with almost no head. Rather flat, and rather thin mouthfeel, somehow. Ehh, this just seemed off, rather than the old ale it had the chance to be, but at this price...it deserves one more chance, at best.
