A beer of the month club entry for Sep/Oct 2010. Pours a nice burnt amber color. Thin head with no particular lacing on the glass. Flavor is pleasant but not bold by any means. A pretty fast slurp down, pleasant but somewhat forgettable.

There was no stellar qualities about this beer, but it was honest and had a good flavor. I had one in the bar and got a growler to go. It was weak on head and alcing in the bar and even more so in the growler the next day. Decent, but don't go out of your way for it.

Clear amber brown color, almost no head or lacing. Aroma was roasty. Flavor was caramel and roast, not smoke. Wasn't that great. Watery mouthfeel and weak, even after warming.

Nothing very special here, actually a tad disappointing, although my expectations weren't high in the first place. Poured an orangey-brown color with a nice initial head, weak retention and lacing. The aroma was roasty caramel. The flavor was nuts, bread, caramel, roasted grass (not peat, not smoke), sweet dark malts, thick sweetness, and some spicing. Lots going on, but all malts and too sweet. Quaffable? Is that what the description says? Not really.

A dark amber appearance with little head. A faint caramel aroma. I was worried my cold was preventing me from smelling this one. I was told by others present that it just had little aroma. Some cherries, raisins, fig, and nutmeg in the flavor. The body is way too light on this one. Eh its ok.

Appalachian Jolly Scot Scottish Ale was a very average at best scottish ale. It was drinkable, but too sweet for a scottish ale. It poured a nice ruby color but while enjoyable it was just not a great beer.

A classic example of this brewery's beer. It is weak, bland, and too sweet for this style. Don't even try it.

Tasted a sample (7 of 8) with lunch at the Appalachian Brewing Company, Harrisburg, PA. Flatliner from the tap. Inviting ruby color, the best quality of this brew. Very sweet, malty aroma that carries over to a syrupy sweet flavor. I really wanted to like this beer, but it is not only too sweet for my taste, it is even too sweet for the style.

Just about no head and no lacing on this hazy, reddish dark brown beer. Aroma is a bit weird, yeasty, fruity, sweet. Flavor is a bit bland but not bad. Easy do drink with just a slight tingle, sweet with some dryness in the finish, light-medium mouthfeel.

Perhaps the best this brewery has to offer (which doesn't say much). Nice red color but the smell gives an early clue that it's not anything special. Tastes more like a lager than a scottish ale. Drinkable but would be hard pressed to drink more than 1 or 2. I'll will probably not drink this again (if I can help it).
