We thought about this for a long time: what kinda beer would give us the utmost feeling of pride in The Sinner Series? Well, if you know Amager Bryghus you already know that Imperial Stouts have a special place in our hearts. So “Pride” simply had to be an Imperial Stout. What is special about this take on the style is that we boiled the h… out of it. Actually we boiled it for 6 hours, making for a richer and fuller version. We would never dare calling this the perfect Imperial Stout - that would be taking pride way too close to hubris! But we hope you enjoy it nonetheless. We’re not proud to be sinners, but at least we’re open about it… Brewed from Pale Ale, Wheat, Crystal, Black, Chocolate malts and roasted barley, hopped with Zeus and fermented with an American yeast strain.

February 2013: Rerate, 500 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Batch No. 511. ABV is 10.0%. Pitch black colour, large brown head. Nice roasty aroma, notes of exotic woodwork, coffee, liquorice and dark chocolate. The flavour is roasty, malty and quite sweet, notes of sweetened strong coffee, chocolate and liquorice, some spicy notes. Bitter hops in the finish. First impression: Powerful - spicy - roasty - impressive - very tasty!

Pours rich coffee-sable with a thick and persistent tan head. Aroma yields roast malt, coffee, semi-sweet chocolate, molasses and earthy hints. Flavor features mouth-filling notes of chocolate, molasses, roast malt, quality coffee, and earthy and woody underpinnings. Texture presents firm, viscous body and peppy fizz. One way to swallow your pride. ;)

Very good beer, though not world class as expected. Starts off just a little hot and rough around the edges, but opens/warms up nicely. Lots of roast, with some anise, dark fruit, and a healthy dose of hops.
