Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color stout with large dark brown foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of rye, alcohol ester and light roasted malt. Taste is totally dominated by rye/whiskey with light roasted malt also noticeable. Body is quite full with great carbonation but alcohol is just way too dominant for my taste. I usually enjoy barrel-aged beers but in this case it is too close to the experience of drinking directly from a Canadian Rye whiskey bottle.

Bottled. Pitch black colour, mediumsized brown head. Aroma is roasted malts, some honey, alcohol, wood and mild salted licorace. Flavour is wood, alcohol, salted licorice, mild spices, some toffee and vanilla as well as burnt notes. Feels a bit fresh, so a bit aging may do this beer very well.

Pours out in a black colour with a frothy yellowish pale brown head. Full aroma of oak, nuts, licorice, figs, alcohol. roasted malts and anise-seeds. Full flavour of oak, alcohol, salty licorice, pepper, vanilla and black coffee. Dryish and peppery mouthfeel. Long warming finish of oak, peppery alcohol, dark chocolate and nuts. A bit young and raw and the barrel-character is a bit too apparent for my tastes.. Still, rather enjoyable.
