First of all, at 7%, this is not an Imperial Stout, I don’t care what the brewer says. Maybe things are different in Virginia, but this beer falls short of the Imperial Stout on every beer web site. The beer pours black with a huge frothy brown head which doesn’t last very long. The aroma is roasted malt, coffee, and weak hints of dark chocolate. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is roasted malt, coffee, and dark chocolate. The beer is very one dimensional.

750ml bottle from LCBO. 7% abv on label. Pours a big thick and creamy beige head and has a dark brown appearance. Lots of dirty lacing remains. Moderate carbonation. Aromas of dark roasted malt, vanilla, hints of chocolate and coffee, a little bit nutty as well. Flavours are sweet and chocolatey, roasted malts, a bit woodsy and some mild spices. Smooth and slick mouthfeel. Goes down pretty easy and not as heavy for an impy stout, especially at 7%. Still pretty good overall.

750ml bottle that pours a dark brown colour with little ruby highlights. The head is big, frothy, mocha-coloured, long lasting with heavy lacing. Roasted malt aromas with coffee. Hints of dark fruits and nuttiness. The taste is mostly the roasted malts. Yeah, pretty malty. Light blending hops with a touch of dryness in the end. Very mild molasses, coffee and dark fruit notes. Goes down smoothly, so a decent Imperial Stout with no faults, but nothing too complex.
