Black Metal Imperial Stout, a.k.a. Suds of Northern Darkness, a.k.a. Iron Sword, a.k.a. El Martillo del Muerte. Black Metal is a cruel and punishing beer fermented by the sheer force of its awesome will. We are pretty sure that Kreator wrote the song “Impossible Brutality” about this beer while drinking it during their Extreme Aggression Tour.

Shared bottle at local tasting. Pitch black beer with a moderate tan head. Roasty and malty aroma and flavour, with notes of strong coffee, liquorice and dark bitter chocolate. Rich and full mouthfeel, warming, maybe a bit too much carbonation. Medium bitterness in the finish. All in all mighty impressive.

Lots of black patent and roast malt. Mild chocolate, black licorice and heavy cream. Thick black pour with a huge head and lacing. Medium to heavy bodied, metallic after taste. Solid all around, but nothing outstanding.

This poured a black color with a tan head. The aroma is rathert boozy with some chocolate, coffee, and charcoal. The flavor is a bit sour and boozy with some dark fruit like raisins, licorice, chocolate and coffee. Overall I think some age would help this but it is good right now. The dude on the label looks like a KISS reject.

Nice effort from jester king, a nice imp stout. Aromas and flavors of roasted coffee, dark bitter chocolate and the finish has a bit of alcohol, and a touch of spiciness. Mouthfeel was a little on the thin side, other than that small minus, a worthy brew indeed.
