501 | Brew Brothers Antonios Original Garlic Pils | Canada | Spiced Beer | 1.0
Aroma: 2 | Appearance: 2 | Mouthfeel: 2 | Flavor: 2 | Overall: 2 I've read other reviews of this beer on other beer sites, and I don't feel so bad slamming this because everybody else has. The nut that thought of this idea should be lock-up in a jail cell full of garlic and see how long he lasts. This is a pale gold beer.....with a garlic clove on the bottom. The aroma is.....surprisingly...........heavy on the garlic. The flavour is......surprisingly.......heavy on the garlic. I have no choice but on a scale of 1 through 5, to give this 1 garlic clove! |

502 | McAuslan St. Ambroise Citrouille / McAuslan St. Ambroise Pumpkin | Canada | Spiced Beer | 3.7
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 Pumpkin ales in the fall are becoming a tradition in Canada, unfortunately far too many brewers don’t know how to make them. That number is growing every year. McAuslan on the other hand, knows how to make a little bit of everything including pumpkin. And while this murky light orange coloured beer doesn’t smell like a fresh baked pumpkin pie, the pumpkin and spice notes are delicately placed in both the flavour and aroma where they should be. Better on draught than bottles! |

503 | Great Lakes Brewery Winter Ale | Canada | Spiced Beer | 4.2
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 8 One of my favourite non-Belgian spiced ales. The spices in this beer come through in both the aroma and taste and really fit the season well. The base is that of an English strong ale with spices like cinnamon, ginger, and nutmeg added. Delish! |

504 | Black Creek Pumpkin Ale | Canada | Spiced Beer | 3.1
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 Part of the 2012 LCBO Fall Seasonal lineup. Not a huge fan of pumpkin beers and this is one of three at the LCBO this fall. A copper coloured ale with a decent sized cap. Pumpkin pie is in the aroma and the flavour. Spices are noticeably weak leaving this a beer to avoid. |

505 | Howe Sound Pumpkineater Imperial Pumpkin Ale | Canada | Spiced Beer | 2.7
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 6 First of all, what's with the 1 litre bottle? They must know it's too much to drink because it comes with a flip top stopper. I didn't really dig this beer. Felt very acidic on the tongue. Bottle date is August so unless it went off quickly, I'm avoiding this one. Not worth it buying another bottle to see if maybe thre first was flawed as I'm not into pumkin beers. |

507 | Belhaven Scottish Stout | United Kingdom | Stout | 3.8
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 A vdecent stout from one of Scotland's better brewers. A pepsi coloured stout with light edges. Lots of coffee and chocolate in the aroma with hints of butterscotch and molasses. Flavour is roasted malt with plenty of background chocolate and coffee. |

508 | Cannery Brewing Maple Stout | Canada | Stout | 4.0
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 The beer pours a solid brown colour with a decent sized light brown head. The nose notices whiffs of coffee, dark chocolate, roasted malt, and maple....definitely maple. Quite sweet to start with maple and chocolate notes, but the coffee flavours kick in at the finish. Nicely balanced. |

509 | Durham Blak Katt | Canada | Stout | 3.5
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 This is a stout, a plain simple stout. Not an Irish stout, and not a specialty stout…just a stout. A black pour with a dark brown creamy head, this is only available on draught. Roasted malt and coffee dominate the aroma, while the flavour has more of a chocolatey feel to it. Nothing outstanding, just a solid beer! |

510 | Railway City Black Coal Stout | Canada | Stout | 3.7
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 This beer pours a very dark brown with a brown foamy cap. Dark chocolate and roasted malt comprise the majority of the aroma, but there are also hints of vanilla and licorice. The flavours are similar to the aroma with a lot of dark chocolate and roasted malt notes, but still a hint of licorice. |

511 | Muskoka Shinnicked Stout | Canada | Stout | 3.1
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 A very dark black stout with a creamy beige head. Muskoka has been known to be hit and miss on beers, and this is a miss in my opinion. It lacks balance. There is a lot of bitterness in the aroma with hints of coffee and roasted malt, but the flavour is a tad too sweet for a stout with fruity and milk chocolate notes…..but it isn’t a milk stout. |

514 | Labatt Maximum Ice | Canada | Strong Lager | 1.2
Aroma: 4 | Appearance: 2 | Mouthfeel: 2 | Flavor: 2 | Overall: 2 Golden barf in a large bottle. I have never seen this in regular sized beer containers, only oversized ones. Tried it a party a few years (I was a chaperone) and it was the fast drunk method for a lot of the kids. They must have had iron stomachs because mine couldn't handle this. You would think that a 7.1% beer would be no problems after years of drinking Belgians, but this gives you an idea just how great those 10% Belgians are when 7.1% can turn your stomach! |

516 | Schlitz Red Bull Malt Liquor | United States | Strong Lager | 1.6
Aroma: 4 | Appearance: 3 | Mouthfeel: 3 | Flavor: 3 | Overall: 3 I have had the Canadian version of this once or twice (Sleeman's used to contract brew Schlitz and Stroh's products) and it was awful both times. An ABV that qualifies as a 'Light' beer for a Belgian, is grossly alcoholic in this concoction |

519 | Molson XXX | Canada | Strong Lager | 1.4
Aroma: 4 | Appearance: 3 | Mouthfeel: 3 | Flavor: 2 | Overall: 2 I’m not sure what this is supposed to be, but I do know what it is not….it’s not very good! Once you open the bottle you can smell the alcohol, and once you pour it into the glass you can smell the corn. The pour is devoid of any real head and is a light metallic gold in colour. The flavour is metallic grains, corn, and alcohol. If you aren’t accustomed to Malt Liquors, then you may have trouble choking this down. |

520 | Baltika 9 (Extra) | Russia | Strong Lager | 2.3
Aroma: 5 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5 Purchased at the Liquor Control Board of Ontario Store. Strong golden lagers tend to be dangerously undrinkable and I found this one to be no exception. A golden pour with copper hues and a snow white head. The aroma is grainy malt, and alcohol. The flavour is also grainy malt and alcohol. |

521 | Rickard's Oakhouse Winter Lager | Canada | Vienna / Amber Lager | 2.6
Aroma: 5 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5 This is supposed to be a seasonal winter warmer, and based on that description, it fails miserably. The glass is holding a cloudy light copper coloured beer with a one inch frothy white head. Weak notes of vanilla, grass, and musty hops permeate the air. The flavour leans towards the bitter side of the spectrum with very little malt or vanilla influence. |

523 | Hop City Barking Squirrel Lager | Canada | Vienna / Amber Lager | 2.0
Aroma: 4 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 4 Gag me with a spoon....please. Hop City Brewing is a wholly owned subsidiary of Moosehead, but they want you to believe that this is craft (when it is actually crap) so they don't put the Moosehead affiliation anywhere on the can. It's a very weak colour for a Vienna, and the aroma and taste both have skunkiness in them. Remember, this is craP, not craFT. |

524 | Woodhouse Lager | Canada | Vienna / Amber Lager | 2.7
Aroma: 5 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5 Wow, an Ontario brewer that mislabels their cans....what a concept. The can says 'lager' which could be anything bottom fermented I suppose. It's a copper colour with a long lasting off-white head. Aroma doesn't match what I see as I would expect caramel or light toast but it's cereal, yeast, and light hops. The flavour is the same as the aroma with little to no caramel or roast making me wonder where the colour comes from. |

525 | Clancy's Red | Canada | Vienna / Amber Lager | 2.6
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5 Like Moosehead Pale Ale and Moosehead Lager, I have a sneaky suspicion that Clancy’s Amber and Clancy’s Red are the same beer in differently labelled bottles. The first giveaway is that neither beer is really all that red or amber in colour, more of a pale gold with orange hues. Again, the aromatic base is bready malt with very weak hints of caramel. The flavour does nothing to remind me of a Vienna style lager. |
