126 Fort Collins Retro Red United States Amber Ale 3.3

Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7

A very dark amber to brown color. It has a nutmeg and caramel aroma to it. The flavor reminds me more of a brown ale than an amber. Somewhat sour with nutmeg and grapes present. This is a pretty good session beer.

129 Abita Pecan Harvest Ale United States Amber Ale 2.8

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5

This must have just come out. Whoopie first rating! The beer has a copper color with a small white head. The aroma is caramel, some pecans, and dark fruit. The flavor is rather one dimensional with just a hint of a nutty flavor. It also has a rather watery palate. Overall this is pretty boring.

130 New Holland Red Tulip Ale United States Amber Ale 3.3

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 7

A dark amber appearance with a caramel and raisin aroma. This beer is rather sweet and malty with some citrus and caramel showing through. Overall this was pretty much another ho-hum amber ale but ok to drink and not think.

Dark amber with a white head. The aroma contains caramel and a strong presence of whiskey. The flavor is malty and boozy with caramel, toffee, and alot of whiskey. Youd think this was high abv but its not. Dry finish. Overall an ok beer in small amounts.

132 Mendocino Red Tail Ale United States Amber Ale 3.0

Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6

What is this? An average boring amber ale is what. Flavor is some malt but almost no hops. High enough alcohol to make it only available in liquor stores. The taste and body are lacking. I usually find this brewery at least pretty good. This is the redheaded stepchild, literalty. Decent effort.

133 Petes Wicked Red Rush United States Amber Ale 2.6

Aroma: 4 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6

WICKEDLY charged! Discover the RUSH of bladness. To me not even as good as Killians. This one falls flat as many of Pete's beers seem to do. Its just a beer that isnt so bad you make face, but isnt good enough to really care. I guess if you just want to drink and not think, here you go. Ahhhh Red Rush, did I just say something?

Amber appearance. Aroma is a spicy orange. Flavor is slightly bitter with some sweet citrus notes. Creamy aftertaste. Considering the style Bells has done a fantastic job with this beer. A must for a session drinker!

Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7

A murky brown appearance witha a whole bunch of sediment floating around. The aroma is very yeasty and nutty. The palate is a bit weak on this one. Some apples, caramel, and chocolate. Time has lended a certain Belgian quality to this beer. Pretty good overall.

136 Stone Levitation Ale United States Amber Ale 3.5

Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7

Just forget its Stone and you will be ok. A good beer considering the usually boring style. A dark brown appearance. This had a hop bite and a large amount of malt as well. A toned down Stone beer ok for a session ale. I didn’t mind it at all.

The appearance is a murky orange but certainly not amber. The aroma is faint with hints of citrus and some vanilla. The flavor is slightly bitter with some caramel showing. I also detect some hints of lemons and peaches. This is more like a Pale Ale to me. Overall a decent session ale.

This poured an amber color like it damn well should! The aroma is malty with some citrus and caramel. The flavor is hard to describe because not much is going on with it. Yummy crystal malts abound. Overall run of the mill amber for drinking and not thinking.

Man is it hard to rate amber ales. They usually dont taste like anything. But here we go....An AMBER appearance with a moderate head. Malty aroma with a hint of citrus. The flavor is slightly malty with some caramel notes. The usual drill for an amber I guess. Good for session drinking.

146 Roots Island Red United States Amber Ale 3.3

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 7

Ah the roots of beer are being experienced again! Take me to an island and let me swim in the red sea of pleasure! The alt style is not overtop but a simple creature that many do not understand. Stop and smell the palm trees my friends for this life will pass you by. I’m overwhelmed in a sea of dark malty aromas and I’m taken to the Willy Wonka land of candy sugar and sweet goodness in my nose. I also smell some of the local bakery man pulling a fresh roll out of his oven. Now on to letting my tongue loose on this island of precious beer. Ah I am dancing about the island and playing in a sandbox full of caramel goodies and some beautiful dark fruits. I have heard it through the grape vine, the raisins dance thier way into my soul. It is the simple things in life my friends that please my frontal lobe. You may question a name like red stout but I do not. The red reflects the glowing color of my nose as I continue to drink. And Stout!!! Oh ho ho ho the stout is how I am like a short teapot ready to take on this brew. Islands in the brew stream, thats what I am. Cherrios to the oats of this wunderbar brew!

Its about damn time I found this, Anyways this poured a copper color with a fading white head. The aroma is faint with some malty notes and a slight bit of citrus. The flavor is rather tame with some a hint of biscuts as well as some citrus and caramel. Overall nothing wrong with it at all, just a bit dull.

A copper color with a rather large head. The aroma is malty but also contains quite a bit of citrus notes. This one was pretty hoppy for an amber ale. The flavor contained some caramel and citrus such as grapefruit and oranges. The finish was rather bitter. Overall a pretty darn good beer.

149 Budweiser American Ale United States Amber Ale 3.1

Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 6

An amber appearance with a beige head. You can still read the text on the monitor through the beer, so not too impressed with that. The aroma isnt half bad with some citrus and caramel. There is also a floral presence. The flavor contains some caramel, some citrus like oranges and lemons. The finish contains a hint of bitterness. The palate is thin. Overall it’s a decent session beer but that is where it ends.

150 Samuel Adams Boston Ale United States Amber Ale 3.8

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8

Quite a little surprise here. Aroma is good with malt, fruit, and hops. Appearance is nice with a reddish orange color. Flavor is hoppy and spicy balancing out wonderfully with the malt. I seem to enjoy Sam Adams beers more than most people but in my opinion this one is a winner. Too bad I cant get this in Chatt-town, but if I could, this might be a regular pick up for me.
