126 St. Peters Cream Stout United Kingdom Chocolate Stout 4.3

Aroma: 10 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 9 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8

Appearance is solid black with a nice tan head and excellent lacing. Aroma is chocolate, raisins, plums, and vanilla. Flavor is slighty sweet with a vanilla ice cream , milk chocolate, and toffee flavor. Not overly sweet but a very dairy like mouthfeel. I could really get into this one!

127 Corsendonk Christmas Ale Belgium Belgian Strong Ale 4.3

Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 9

Aroma is cherries, oranges, raisins, and alcohol. Appearance is a very nice brownish red color. Flavor is very chocolately. Some wintergreen mint and spiced plums. A sort of grainy and very sweet aftertaste. An Andes Mint in a liquid form. A tad too sweet but its one fine cold weather beer. Groovy!

128 Three Floyds Dreadnaught Imperial IPA United States Imperial IPA 4.3

Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 9

Finally I get the 3 floyds! And it did not disappoint. Aroma is floral, sharp citrus, pine, wood, and of course fresh hops. Appearance is orange with a silky head and good lacing. The flavor is amazing. A nice hop punch but not as much as I expected. Lemons, oranges, and vanilla exist in the flavor. The citrus flavor and hops blend prefectly together. It has a very smooth and creamy mouthfeel to curb the sharp citrus and hop bite. I thought this would knock Stone IPA off my top spot for sure but thus far this is my second favorite IPA. Excellent beer! Rerate: The 2005 edition does not seem to be as good. It has lost some of the malt profile and its more like hop juice at this point. Its still good not great.

129 5 Seasons Delerium Dubbel United States Abbey Dubbel 4.3

Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 9

Wow! This quickly changed my impression of 5 Seasons! Hazy brown color with a thick head. Flavor was rich and malty with some Christmas spice, plums, raisins, and cherries. This was prefectly balanced. I'm glad I had the opportunity to sample this beer.

130 Hurlimann Samichlaus Switzerland Doppelbock 4.3

Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 9

--VINTAGE 1996-- I did not age this myself, I bought it at the store today! Very odd especially considering the store opened in 2000. But I am very lucky because this beer seemed to age well. Appearance is opague brown. Aroma is chocolate, raisins, and caramel. Creamy, sweet, and slightly syrupy. Chocolate, caramel, raisins, and toffee are abound. The alcohol is there but not overpowering especially for a 14% ABV beer. It has a really nice warming effect. An excellent beer for sipping on a cold day.

132 Abbaye des Rocs Brune Belgium Belgian Strong Ale 4.3

Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 10 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 9

Aroma is amazing, mainly raisins and chocolate, flavor is of chocolate, raisins and dare I say lemons. Apperance is a musky brown color. Alcohol is not hidden very well but that may be due to the fact Im drinking it at a slightly warmer temp. To me this isnt as complex as the Grand Cru but its still complex nonetheless. A good belgian.

Aroma is a very nice mixture of dough and fruit. It pours a dark amber color. The flavor is quite sour with some lemons, cherries, and wheat present. A nice sipping beer with some alcohol present in the aftertaste. Complex and badass!

A dark brown color with a large head. The aroma was raisins and almonds. The flavor was nutty with the alcohol peaking through. Other flavors I detected were grapes, caramel, and smoke. This would be a great one to have on a cold day. Overall very good!

136 St. Bernardus Abt 12 Belgium Abbey Quadrupel 4.3

Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 9 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 9

A chocolate, raisin, caramel, and oak filled aroma. Appearance is a dark brown with a large head. The flavor is quite rich with some roasted nuts, grapes, raisins, cherry, oak, maple syrup, and caramel. A very complex sipper this one is. My only complaint with this beer is the over carbonation. It has a very spritzy mouthfeel. Regardless this beer rocks!

137 Great Divide Hercules Double IPA United States Imperial IPA 4.3

Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 9

A dark orange appearance with a moderate off white head. The flavor is a nice kick of hops with some orange citrus, bread, pine , and caramel in the flavor. The aroma is pretty much the same and quite enjoyable. A bitter finish that leaves a citrus sting in your mouth. Yet another fantastic Double IPA!

Black as Pennzoil when it poured with a large dark tan head. An extremely nice looking beer. Aroma is malty with some smoke, chocolate, coffee beans, and wood even. The flavor has a certain sourness to it. I taste chocolate, raisins, and loads of coffee. This is a great one. I cant wait for the barleywine!

Black appearance with a moderate head. The aroma explodes with chocolate, raisins, and caramel. The flavor is quite sweet with some milk chocolate, nuts, syrup, and grapes. I find this oddly refreshing for some reason. The alcohol is masked extremely well. The aftertaste is very sweet and thick. This one is a winner fo sho!

140 Alpine Beer Company Pure Hoppiness United States Imperial IPA 4.3

Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 9 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 9

Woohoo! Another great west coast IPA. A big ol splash of orange peel in the nose. The hops will destroy your palate and its an addictive beer. This has a heavy pine and lemon presence. A hopfest for sure. No wonder Barnyard orders this all the time.

Shared a bottle with some of the San Diego crew at O’Briens. Funny I couldnt get ScottVacula to have any, damn you! Well I had most of it, ouch! Well it was a dark red color with a decent head and lacing. The flavor did not show the alcohol as much as I had imagined. The were some vanilla, cherries, whiskey, and alcohol in there. A nice one indeed.

142 Bells Special Double Cream Stout United States Stout 4.3

Aroma: 10 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8

This one poured pitch black with a rather large tan head. The nose is milk chocolate, coffee, and some licorice notes. The flavor is slightly sweet and fairly bitter with some chocolate, coffee, and toffee. This one manages to be a very smooth yet complex stout that hides the fact its a 7.5% ABV very well. Wish I had another one. GRRRREAT!

144 Rochefort Trappistes 6 Belgium Abbey Dubbel 4.3

Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 9 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8

Well another Rochefort. The 10 is close to perfect, the 8 was boring but ok, now onto the 6. Well this one is brown in apperance with a moderate head. The aroma is caramel and brown sugar. The flavor is a bit light but very well balanced and flavorful. Some dark fruit and caramel with a backbone of some apricots? Ive had more flavorful dubbels but not many as well crafted as this.

An orangish brown appearance with a moderate tan head. The aroma is floral and full of oranges and raisins. This sucker hides that 10% amazingly well. I taste caramel, vanilla, toffee, and grapes. Its a little sweet but seems to find almost perfect balance. Glad Ive had the chance to sample so many good barleywines lately.

A black apperance with a nice tan head. The aroma contains a bit of alcohol along with some chocolate, coffee, dark fruit, and licorice. Some smoke up in the nose. The flavor is quite sweet and warming. It contains some chocolate, coffee, raisins, licorice, and molasses. My only complaint is the alcohol is very apparent. The finish is somewhat bitter. A dark orange appearance on this one. The aroma is loaded with citrus and pine with some lemons, grapefruit, and oranges. The flavor is bitter but with a good malt backbone. Some orange peels, lemons, grapefruit, and pine. I dont get the rye in this at all. A bittersweet finish. World class shit!
