51 | Lagunitas Maximus | United States | Imperial IPA | 4.5
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 10 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 9 A dark orange appearance with a beige head. The aroma is full of pine, grapefruit, and oranges. I catch a little perfume in there as well. This wasnt as BIG as some IPAs Ive had which isnt always bad. A well balanced beer with more grapefruit and oranges showing up in the flavor. The finish was quite bitter. Top notch IIPA in my book. |

53 | Nøgne Ø Dark Horizon 001 | Norway | Imperial Stout | 4.5
Aroma: 10 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 9 What a shock to see this one. A black appearance with little head. The aroma has an alcohol presence but also contains some molasses, chocolate, coffee, and raisins. The flavor is quite sweet but that can be expected at 16%. The flavor contained some chocolate, coffee, licorice, raisins, and a hint of smoke. This lives up to expectations. Great beer! |

54 | General Lafayette 275th Anniversary Ale | United States | English Barleywine | 4.5
Aroma: 10 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 9 Suprised to run into another General (as we say in the south Luh-fay-it) beer. This place was cool as hell. Anyway a dark amber apperance with a moderate head. The aroma has an oaky presence with some cherries, raisins, cherries, and caramel. The flavor is quite sweet and complex with some vanilla, molasses, brown sugar, raisins, and caramel. The alcohol is masked well for 13% but still shows. Dear god is this a nice barleywine! |

55 | Foothills Brewing Sexual Chocolate Imperial Stout | United States | Imperial Stout | 4.5
Aroma: 10 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 9 A black appearance with a moderate tan head. The aroma consists of coffee, chocolate, licorice, dark fruit, and charcoal. This is a very rich beer with a lot of chocolate showing through. Some coffee and licorice linger in the background. This reminds of Expedition in some ways. The alcohol is hidden quite well. The aftertaste is a mixture of bitter and sweet. This beer lives up to the hype. Great stuff! |

59 | Hitachino Nest New Year Celebration Ale | Japan | Spiced Beer | 4.5
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 10 | Mouthfeel: 10 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 9 A deep amber to brown color with a large beige head. The aroma oddly reminds me of Trois Pistoles. A yeasty presence with some coriander, nutmeg, caramel, toffee, and some spices. Freaking amazing! The flavor is very complex with some citrus, caramel, cinammon, vanilla, toffee, and other spices. The mouthfeel is carbonated. BURP! I’m against the grain here but I really do love this beer. |

68 | Stone Imperial Russian Stout | United States | Imperial Stout | 4.4
Aroma: 10 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 9 2002 edition :This is one big beer. The only Imperial Stout I’ve had but this is amazing. Pours like motor oil and it has a good warming feeling to it. Despite the 10% ABV it doesnt dominate. If you like stouts dont pass this one up. It has no flaws!........2003 edition : Didn’t get it due to our bitch ass distributor!.......2004 edition : This just came in to town today. When I had the previous ’02 version this beer came as quite a shock, I had never tried an Imperial Stout before. But now I’m ready. So here it goes. Pitch black with a suprisingly small head. Flavor is quite sweet with some licorice, loads of coffee beans, some dark chocolate, smoke and tobacco. The alcohol lets you know its hanging around. Like "Hi, this beer is 10.8% and dont you freaking forget it!" There’s not a load of hops in this beer, which one may expect from Stone. If this were just a tad less sweet it would probably be perfect. 2004 edition a year later : My how this beer has changed. The rough around the edges alcohol burn of a new bottle is now gone. The sweetness and syrupy feel is toned down. The balance is great on this one after a year of aging! Try one Komrad, as the bottle states. |

73 | Three Floyds Dark Lord Imperial Stout | United States | Imperial Stout | 4.4
Aroma: 10 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 9 A wonderful chocolate, coffee, and smoke aroma. The flavor was quite sweet with chocolate, raisins, coffee, toffee, and licorice. There was some sour fruit detectable in the background. The alcohol was not that noticeable for 13% ABV. It was certainly a pleasure to be able to finally sample this beer and I would definitley like to try more in the future. |

74 | Great Divide Yeti Imperial Stout | United States | Imperial Stout | 4.4
Aroma: 10 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 9 This was a damn good Imperial Stout. Pitch black appearance with a large tan head. The aroma was smoke and chocolate. The flavor was very complex with some smoke, licorice, chocolate, raisins, and vanilla. This is certainly one of the more bitter Impys Ive tasted. The aftertaste leaves a nice sweet chocolate coat on your tounge. Very good! |
