April 2013: 500 ml bottle conditioned, from Vaaland, Bryne. ABV is 4.5%. Plenty of sediment in the bottle. Very pale yellow colour, hazy. Moderate white head. Sweetish aroma with notes of grassy and herbal hops. The flavour is crisp and medium dry, with distinct herbal, peppery and citrussy hops throughout. Decent bitterness, refreshing.

April 2013: 500 ml bottle conditioned, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 4.8%. The main label calls the beer a "rich ruby porter", while a side label calls it a "strong mild". Whatever - it is a decent beer anyway. Mahogany coloured beer, clear first, hazy when the yeast is poured in the end. Low beige head. Moderate natural carbonation. Malty aroma and flavour with mild roasty notes, hints of ripe berries, chocolate and mild coffee. Not very sweet, a moderate bitterness in the finish. Not bad, and "very English".

April 2013: 500 ml bottle conditioned, from Vaaland, Bryne. ABV is 4.2%. Plenty of sediment in the bottle. Hazy very pale yellow colour, like a witbier. Large and lasting white head. Moderate wheaty and yeast aroma with some spicy and zesty notes. Refreshing wheaty flavour, with citrussy, herbal and spicy hops. Nice bitterness in the finish and aftertaste. However, this is not a traditional English "bitter" by any stretch of the mind.

April 2013: 500 ml bottle conditioned, will soon be available at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 5.2%. Auburn colour, moderate off-white head. Aroma of caramel, dark died fruits and "dusty" hops. Rich malty and earthy flavour, mild roasty notes, some caramel but not too sweet, dark dried fruits again, reasonably hoppy finish. Nice one.

330 ml bottle in cardboard box, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 14%. Pitch black colour, moderate tan head. Aroma of roast malts, bourbon, oak and vanilla. Rich and warming mouthfeel. Boozy sweet flavour with the same elements as the aroma, also notes of chocolate.

Jan. 2018: 500 ml bottle, from Ales By Mail. ABV is 5.5%. Brown colour, slightly hazy. Huge and lasting off-white head. Malty aroma, hints of lightly roasted malts too, some fruity and piney hops. The flavour has also decent malts, but is rather dry. Fairly distinct piney and grapefruity (American?) hops. Decent beer, but the the style is not very "British", nor very "Christmassy".

Aug. 2018: Rerate, cask pint at The Beehive (JDW landside, South terminal, Gatwick Airport). ABV 4.5%. Golden colour, white head. Pleasant aroma and flavour of citrus / lemons, but not too sour. Decent hops, well balanced. Refreshing. I'm upping the score several points. Original rating: Cask 1/3 pint, gravity dispense, at the 16th Twickenham Beer & Cider Festival. Pale golden colour, small white head. Moderate aroma of lemons. Lemony flavour all right, but not much more than that. Thin body.

330 ml can, from BilkaToGo, Skalborg. ABV is 0.3%. Very pale straw colour, only the slightest haziness. Moderate white head. Aroma of citric and spicy hops, a hint of catpiss. Citric and thin mouthfeel. The flavour is fairly dry, and has notes of lemon zest, lime and spicy hops. Not too bad for a n/a beer.

330 ml can, from BilkaToGo, Skalborg. ABV is 7.0%. Opaque yellow colour, small white head. Distinct aroma of ripe yellow stonefruits, pineapple and other tropical fruits, hints of citrus and spruce. Citric mouthfeel. The flavour has pleasant notes of chewy hops, with the same elements as the aroma.

750 ml corked bottle, as Frejdahl Gudmund Double Saison, fadlagret på gamle hvidvinsfade. Bought at BilkaToGo, Skalborg. ABV is 7.0%. Hop is now Hallertauer Blanc. Slightly hazy golden colour, huge white head. Pleasant aroma of white wine, oak and mild spicy hops. Light bodied for its strength. The flavour is fairly crisp and dry, with mild spicy notes, hints of oak and white wine.

Interesting beer, without hops.

April 2020, sampled again (from can) today: 500 ml bottle, from SPAR Hirtshals. ABV is 5.4%, IBU 25. Hazy golden colour, some floaties. Small white head. Moderate aroma of pineapple and other tropical fruits. Fruity and refreshing flavour, citrus and tropical fruits. Low bitterness.

Nov. 2014: 250 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 5.7%. Hazy straw colour, large to moderate white head. Strong wheaty and yeasty aroma of citrus / orange peel, coriander and cloves, hints of bananas. The flavour is citrussy and refreshing, followed by moderate spicy notes of coriander and cloves, banana in the finish. Very moderate hops.

750 ml corked bottle, 2019 vintage, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 11%. Clear colourless, nearly like water. No carbonation. Aroma of meadowsweet and Williams pears. Medium sweet flavour, very distinct notes of meadowsweet on a background of sweet perry. Interesting, but not something I'm likely to buy again. A little carbonation would have helped.

April 2017: 330 ml can, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 5.9%. Golden colour, moderate to low white head. Sweetish "industrial" aroma, hints of maize, malts and over-cooked vegetables. The flavour is also sweet, with moderate hops, but no particular off-flavours, so the beer is not undrinkable.

May 2012: 330 ml bottle, from NETTO. ABV is 5.7%. Golden colour, large to medium white head. The aroma has first some sweetish malts and grassy and herbal hops, and is better than I feared - then the usual Harboe notes of wet cardboard set in. The flavour is first sugary sweeet, then I get a hint of grassy hops, before the finish with dust and cardboard. Sure, my expectations were low, but I suppose Harboe would be capable of making an even worse show of it. At least the beer was cheap ...

Nov. 2015: Shared 500 ml bottle, probably from Fakta, Denmark. Chestnut colour, moderate off-white head. Very malty aroma, caramel, brown bread and Danish pastry. Malty flavour, a typical dunkel, caramel and brown bread again, but not as sweet as expected. Fairly decent for something out of Harboe.
