Quite dry flavour, distinct notes of coffee (an actual ingredient), hints of dark bitter chocolate. Moderate hops (Cascade, Northern Brewer and Hallertauer Tradition).

Malty flavour too, moderately sweet, notes of caramel, Danish pastry and brown bread, hints of chocolate. Modest hops, as expected from the style. This is more of a Dark Bock than a Doppelbock, though. Nice to drink, whatever you call it.

Aroma of Belgian ale yeast, white kandij sugar syrup, stewed fruits and bog myrtle / sweet gale. Flavour of surprisingly distinct bittering hops, bog myrtle, medium sweet malts and sugar.

Aroma of floral and herbal hops, a hint of citrus too. The flavour has sufficient malts and citric hops, also notes of spicy / herbal hops in the finish.

Strong malty aroma, notes of molasses and brown kandij sugar, some alcohol, Lovely and well balanced flavour, malty but not too sweet, brown kandij sugar and oak, notes of dark dried fruits, some mild spicy notes.

Citric mouthfeel. Medium sweet wheaty flavour with the same elements as the aroma, also notes of lemons, minimal hops.

Fairly crisp flavour with a little citrus in first sip, unfortunately followed by sweetish millet and weird hints of plastic.

Sample at Copenhagen Beer Festival. Amber colour. Malty character with some caramel and toffee, but lacks a fresh hoppy "bite", which is a bit surprising, as Styrian Goldings and Pilgrim ought to contribute to a "fresh" character. Too much crystal malts, not enough hops, perhaps?

500 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 9.1%, 186 IBU, 71 EBC. Very dark brown colour, nearly black. Large and lasting beige head. Delightful aroma of American hops, notes of citrus (incl. orange marmalade) and tropical fruits, also pine, hints of coffee. The flavour is medium sweet with notes of chocolate and mild coffee, but first and foremost well hopped, with citrussy and resinous hops throughout. The bitterness is, however, not as extreme as I feared , but solid enough. Another fine beer from Midtfyns and home brewer Claus Christensen.

Cask half pint at The Justice Mill (JDW), Aberdeen. 6.0% ABV. Dark brown colour, beige head. Moderate but nice aroma, hints of chocolate and chili. LOADS of chili in the flavour, nearly too much, burning mouthfeel, on a background of smooth and fairly sweet malts with some chocolate and caramel.

330 ml bottle conditioned. L040, from Aberdeen Country Fair. ABV is 6.2%. Deep golden to orange colour, slightly hazy. Large to moderate white head. Nice fruity aroma of Amarillo hops. Fruity flavour too, well hopped throughout, decent bitterness.
