2401 Rickard's Pale Ale Canada American Pale Ale 1.8

Aroma: 3 | Appearance: 3 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 3

20oz draught
4.8% ABV
I tried this beer on July 23, 2007 at 'Hard Rock Cafe - Rogers Centre (SkyDome)' in Toronto. The beer was a very pale yellow colour with an ample head that died quickly, but left traces on the side of the glass. There was very little aroma of note, what aroma there was...was weak and hard to identify. The mouthfeel was crisp, slightly thin-bodied, with some hints of mild carbonation. The taste was very watered down as well. Not something I would order again. I have to admit, the thin crisp mouthfeel and watery taste would make this beer go down very easy which would make it a great beer for University students wanting to get drunk on something other than Blue or Canadian

330ml bottle
11.3% ABV
The Beerbistro (Toronto, Ontario, Canada)
July 12, 2007
Unfortunately I can't rate it as high as the St. Bernardus Abt 12 I had last night. Maybe had I tried them in the reverse order things may have been different. Anyway, this poured a dark reddish-brown with a small head (the first contrast with SS). The head disappeared rather quickly. The aroma was very similar with robust bread and malt tones as well as plums. It felt great on the tongue with a full-bodied feel. As for the taste, I'm not sure where it failed when compared to the SB, but it just failed to measure up. Possibly the higher alcohol content which I noticed more in this brew.

330ml bottle
10.5% ABV
Bar Volo (Toronto, Ontario, Canada)
July 11, 2007
I was very nervous about trying this....high alcohol content, dark brown, yada yada yaada. Well, try it I did. It poured a dark brown into the glass with a small head that lasted throughout the entire beer. The aroma was thick with bread and hops, and some fruit. It was silky smooth on the tongue with a full-bodied feel. The taste.........unlike any beer I've tasted before. There was bread, and malt...and hops. The alcohol was not noticeable on the tongue.....but I felt it going down....and this is one damn fine beer!

500ml can
5.0% ABV
Milton LCBO Outlet #1 (Milton, Ontario, Canada)
July 6, 2007
It poured a translucent pale gold colour with little or no head. The aroma was very yeasty yet pleasant. The mouthfeel was crisp and clean with hints of carbonation. The tatse was a combination of yeast and malt with a slight citrus tinge that was unexpected.

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6

500ml can
5.0% ABV
Milton LCBO Outlet #1 (Milton, Ontario, Canada)
July 6, 2007
It poured a translucent pale golds colour with a 1" fluffy head that stuck around for a minute or two. The aroma was slightly skunky and not at all appealing. As with a lot of lager/pale lager types, the mouthfeel was crisp and clean on the tongue with hints of carbonation. The taste was better than the smell with some malts and grass tones.

500ml can
5.0% Abv
Main/Bronte LCBO Outlet (Milton, Ontario, Canada)
July 6, 2007
$2.10
It poured a golden orange colour into the glass with a fluffy white head that dissipated very quickly leaving almost no foam on the top. Lots of effervescence. The aroma was a combination of malts and yeast. The mouthfeel is crisp with a lot of carbonation - dances on the tongue. The taste is slightly bitter with some malty tones. Not a great beer by any stretch.

330ml bottle
7.5% ABV
Milton LCBO Outlet #1 (Milton, Ontario, Canada)
July 5, 2007
It poured a beautiful translucent reddish into the glass with very little head. The aroma was that of malts and fruits (apricotish). The mouthfeel is full-bodied, very smooth and crisp with a hint of carbonation. The taste is smooth with hints of yeast, malt and some sweetness and goes down very well. One of those beers that tastes better at the finish than it does at the beginning. Nothing overpowering. A very nice beer.

330ml bottle
6.6% ABV
Milton LCBO Outlet #1 (Milton, Ontario, Canada)
July 5, 2007
It was a nice pretty clear bottle. The beer poured a coppery red colour into the glass with a 1 finger creamy white head that dissipated quickly to leave a little trace on top. The smell was rather foul to say the least....almost sour. The mouthfeel is crisp and slightly thick with an idea level of carbonation. The taste is good with some hints of malt and fruit (although I can't place the sweetness off-hand).

The aroma was strong and malty with some grainy tones. It is slightly thick on the tongue with very little carbonation. The taste is slightly malty with a toasty aftertaste. Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 4

500ml can
5.0% ABV
Milton LCBO Outlet #1 (Milton, Ontario, Canada)
June 30, 2007
Having tried the Kronenbourg Lager, I decided to try this. The beer smoothly into the glass with a nice light gold colour, clear, with a thin head. The aroma is faint, but malty. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with some mild carbonation. The taste is more hops than malt and has a slightly bitter finish. Overall, a decent beer that I may try again but I prefer the lager.

500ml bottle
5.8% ABV
Milton LCBO Outlet #1 (Milton, Ontario, Canada)
June 29, 2007
This beer pours a translucent medium golden colour with a thick white head that lasts longer than 10 seconds. The aroma is both grainy and malty, a pleasant combination. It is crisp and clean on the mouth like a lot of European lagers with slight hints of carbonation. The taste is malty and slightly better. Another beer I would recommend.

Aroma: 4 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 4

330ml bottle
5.2% ABV
I tried this beer on June 25, 2007 at "Smokeless Joe's" in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. This was poured by the waitress into a Unibroue glass. It poured very clear with little head. When held up against the light it was a very pale yellow. The aroma was weak with some floral hints. It was very harsh on the tongue with a fair bit of carbonation. The taste was very bitter which surprised me from a pale lager. Not a beer I will try again anytime soon.

341ml bottle
5.0% ABV
I tried this beer at Smokeless Joe's in Toronto on June 25, 2007. Wow! What a beer! (and it's an ale - maybe my ale has come!) This was a beautiful translucent golden-orange with a generous bubbly tan coloured head. The aroma was very much apricot with some grassy malt and a hint of hops. The mouthfeel was crisp, medium bodied with nice carbonation. The flavour was malty with hints of apricot. I really like this beer!

2418 Beck's Germany Lager 3.0

Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6

330ml bottle
5.0% ABV
Guelph, Ontario, Canada
June 1, 1992
$1.50
I had heard many many great things about Beck's, so naturally I had to try one. Unfortunately, I was not able to add any great comments. This is just an alright beer. The colour is a nice translucent golden colour, the aroma was neither appealing or repulsive with a slight malty smell. The flavour was mild with some grassiness. The mouthfeel was smooth and crisp with just the right amount of carbonation.
