Ad test, don't panic

Website Comments by FLASHPRO

You may have noticed the google ads on the bottom right of the beer info pages. Out of curiosity I signed up for Google's AdSense to see how profitable it is. Google policy doesn't allow users to tell others how much money they make or what the click-thru percentage is, so I really have no idea what to expect. Also, payment is different for each ad because of their crazy pricing system. I might run them for a couple days, but don't worry. If I do use them I'll probably turn them off for all members. You guys wouldn't get used to ignoring them anyway, so it doesn't do much good. 90% of the people who visit the site only look at one beer page and leave anyway, so they can see the ads LOL.

In Reply To #1 If they turn out to generate a nice little something, you could try running them only for those who haven't made a donation of at least x in the last year or so. They're actually rather modest. Just don't ever run pop ups, lol.

In Reply To #3 LOL, I'll run popups the day I give Coors Light a 5.0. The ads would probably get moved into a more obscene area of the page if I chose to keep them. Google ads pay per click, so moving them more towards the top of the page would give them better exposure and more profits for me. That's the kind of thing I wouldn't want to subject to members. There are also about a dozen other shapes and forms of ads that I have to choose from.
