Start drooling and beggin me for Willibrew growlers.... NOW!
General Beer Discussion by COTTRELL
Well, in early March CT's growler law passed the House 140-2. It's been sitting on the Senate's calendar since 3/11/05. They finally voted on it today, I can't find the roll call, but it passed! Now we're just waiting on Rell to sign, or ignore it. Either way we'll have growlers aplenty in 5 days... unless that bitch vetoes it... but I highly doubt it. http://www.cga.ct.gov/asp/cgabillstatus/cgabillstatus.asp?selBillType=Bill&bill_num=6071&which_year=2005

In Reply To #1 Best thing about growlers in the states is the customer has to wash them out! At the Wounded Terrier, the "growlers" are three liter bottles. Massa won't put his brew in a container the customer has washed. The reason is he is freaked out about folks taking the bier setting on it a spell then finding an infection. So, guess who gets the wonderful job of washing these creatures? Yea, niederman! I will send some pics of the "hight tech" apperatus we use to wash out the bottles. The bottles are put through two cleaning solutions, cold and hot rinse, then inspected. Last, glass cleaner on the outside, and labeled. We use the Bugel caps-wire ceramic jobs, so they have to be cleaned as well. Users buy the bottle for 15 Euro, and after that it is 7 to refill them. The Terrier sells all but one of its sesonals in the large bottles only. A half liter cost 2.30, so the 3 liter is a good deal, but not for the niederman. Out West where growlers are common I have noted you best drink 'em up fast, as they go flat rapidly. Still, it is nice to have a collection of the bottles, and most outlets will let you use any one you own, and are not all wound up about using a "tied" bottle.
