Site suggestion - scroll-down menu styles

Website Comments by SIGMUND

Today, when adding a new beer, if you accidentally hit the "submit" button without actively choosing a style, the beer is automatically added as being an "Abbey dubbel". I don't know how many "abbey dubbels" the admins have had to change in the recent clean-up, but it can't be few. Is it possible to have this feature changed so you simply HAVE TO (ACTIVELY) choose a style, i.e. no beers can be added without an active use of the scroll-down style menu? Don't ask me HOW that would be done - I know nothing about computer programming. I'm sure it can be done, though - other sites (beer related or not) require active use of scroll-down menus to get stuff added to the site.

In Reply To #1 One technique is to have "(blank)" be a style option and for the list to default to "(blank)" the way it defaults to "Abbey Dubbel" now. This message was edited by FoamDome at 4/2/2005 5:10:20 PM.

In Reply To #2 I like having it default to "Abbey Dubbel" for one reason: If a neophyte like myself is adding some dirt-cheap swill and accidentally hits "send" before choosing another style, this new beer is instantly listed as an abbey dubbel. If I purchase said swill before one of the crew changes the style, then I can enjoy a lovely craft brew for the low price of, say, a Pearl or Schlitz. It works that way, right?

In Reply To #1 Your wish is my command. Now the default is "Select One", and if you don't, the next page tells you to go back. I never realized this was a problem before. Thanks!
