End of a decade

Website Comments by FLASHPRO

The twenty-teens are coming to an end and I see great things coming up. There haven't been many updates or fixes lately, but I'm spending lots of hours every week working on BeerPal 3.0. This time on new technology.

Reboot builds upon Normalize, providing many HTML elements with somewhat opinionated styles using only element selectors. Additional styling is done only with classes. For example, we reboot some styles for a simpler baseline and later provide .table, .table-bordered, and more. Here are our guidelines and reasons for choosing what to override in Reboot: Update some browser default values to use rems instead of ems for scalable component spacing. Avoid margin-top. Vertical margins can collapse, yielding unexpected results. More importantly though, a single direction of margin is a simpler mental model. For easier scaling across device sizes, block elements should use rems for margins. Keep declarations of font-related properties to a minimum, using inherit whenever possible.

Strange. I haven't changed any of the google ads code. I've noticed that it doesn't always put ads in the same place. The only time I've ever seen an ad pop up on top is on my phone. Never happened on desktop, which is what I usually use.

I haven't seen an ad on BeerPal in ages.....I never really thought about it one way or another as I tend not to notice ads on any sites unless they're really obtrusive. I only use a desktop/laptop though as I don't have a phone.

Yes, this is only on laptop, not phone. Would be across whole top section, so when scrolling up, would have this huge ad, then you would scroll down a bit to hide it and see the actual page you want to work on and blah. Would be nice to do another poll to see what people are using mostly, between a smart phone or laptop-desktop. I really think this site should stay the old school way, how it started. Just sayin'
