It's a question of traffic. Ratebeer has more rating in the last 10-15 minutes than we get here in a full day. It would be like bringing up your city softball team when talking about the MLB... I doubt most brewers know this site exists.

Of course, everything you say is true; but, it would be a nice surprise to get a shout out - even if it was only a one-time event. To the last point, it is a shame brewers haven't found this site. The site is generally less pretentious - the reviews tend to feel more honest on this site compared to the others. As an example, World Wide Stout is still a highly rated beer here. It's not new and shiny anymore and that seems to have skewed reviews in a negative direction on the competitor sites. It used to be a top 10 beer on BA - now it isn't even in the top 250.

I hear ya. It would be nice, I'm just not gonna hold my breath. A little more care and lots more traffic would help, but again... As far as World Wide goes, my own beer experience mimics that drop off. Not completely cause I like it less (though I do think DFH quality on the big brews has dropped off a touch). But when I first rated WW, it was the biggest baddest stout on the block. It's not anymore. So for me it's gone from a top 10-20 beer when I first tried it to outside the top couple hundred easily (mostly) because better things have come out as the craft beer market has exploded. Which is a good thing. Not because it's no longer shiny and new (definitely see this a little. definitely a bad thing).

But just to further prod, I would note that Westy 12 has dropped considerably on BA as well. It's as if the ability to get it (via ebay or from limited shipping from the abbey) made it less of a beer. THAT, I think is a sad commentary on some of these other sites. I've been on this site since 94 and it has always worn the crown - the deviation suggests it always will too.

Agreed. And just cause it ain't in the top 20 anymore doesn't mean I don't still love it. Great beer. If it's in the top 275, that's the 95th percentile. Better than 19 of every twenty beers. Palo Santo is my favorite from them, though...

[/quote] LOVE Palo Santo! I love DFH period - they do their staple beers about as well as any brewer out there. 60, 90, PS, WWS - solid every year. While I certainly don't feel this way, I do get the feeling from reading various DFH threads that DFH took a drop b/c they "got too commercial." Be it b/c Sam had a TV show, the perception that DFH is more marketing than quality, etc., I have no idea, but it just seems that in the past 2-years or so, fans turned harsh on DFH. Personal top 5 US brewery for this BeerPal.

I'm a delaware native and a fan of our state born companies and industries etc. I'm happy we have DFH. And I'm happy others like them. I think Sam is innovative and creative and I like his history spins on styles and around beer. I like that he brings a concoction along behind the stories (or vice versa). However, most of the special beers he brews in my basic beer opinion just aren't that good. Interesting often yes. But lots of sweetness in many and the higher abv is often hot and non value adding. And while some dig the flagship hop run from pale to IPA to dIPA, there are so so so many like runs from other breweries that knock the socks off of DFH. Plain and simple. They simply don't make it into my fridge at any regularity. I even take troeggs (out of state and nice but not super) over then regularly for guests and parties. Let's not even put DFH pale, IPA, dIPA against anything west coast. That's not hating. That's not even done wanting anything other than to be a home state homer. But I simply can't do it. That being said, I think Palo is indeed one of their best! Haven't enjoyed their barley wines in a long while. Wws is a unique impy so it gets some credit in being differentiated but it never wows me anymore.
