I was able to secure 6 bottles last week ($4.99 each) and tried one over the weekend. Huge, English style barleywine, very sweet and boozy. It was good but would have liked a little more hop presence to curb the sweetness.

So far only one retailer in N Nevada had this, and sold out fast. My friends got a few, but at that price I'd like a few more. The coffee BCS (which had been a $20-25 bomber) was also a $5-6 12 ounce single. I'll keep looking. Our distribution here seems beyond retarded at times, but I can't imagine only the one smaller volume retailer getting this.

The weirdness continues. Both retailers (one small, one chain) that got it got the barleywine (yay), coffee, and rye, but neither of them have a single bottle of the regular ol' BCS, which was made in far higher quantities than any of the others. [?]

Being a sucker for coffee, I do think the coffee stout beats the barleywine. But I'd take the barleywine 6 or 7 times out of ten over the classic BCS. Really, though, I'd take any of em, on any given day.
