Victory Oak Horizontal

Beer Discussion by SLOWRUNNER77

BeerPal Notice: This topic was created for discussion of the beer Victory Oak Horizontal. Just wondering why Old Horizontal is an American barleywine, while the barreled version is listed under English. It should be the same one way or the other, right? Bad ass brew, by the way...

Probably my mistake/haste when adding it. I agree that it should be classified as an American barleywine.

Rookie [;)] Thanks again for the bottle - it was very very well received by myself and my buddy Dave, the barleywine lover.

I never did see bottles of Oak Smoke, only on tap. I've already got bottles of both versions of the IRS.

Yeah...I was a little optimistic I guess, though if it's on tap in your market, your distributor has access to bottles too. Stone says all the markets that get the regular seasonals will get it, but once it's in the distributor's hands, all bets are off. We got the regular bottles first, the oaked weeks later (though they were released at the same time). Only oaked on tap anywhere. Seems like the "odd" releases two years ago were more regular/standard. Haven't seen the stouts here yet, but Reno's not high on anyone's rush to get it there list [;)]

Soon, my precious. It's hitting the shelves here. Ironically, the distributors can't seem to figure out to release the regular and "odd" versions at the same time, though the brewer does. In February, the classic Old Guardian hit the shelves weeks before the odd release, and now the odd IRS is showing up, but no classic.

?! Same in Seattle. Espresso IRS on the shelf. No classic. Both released on tax day.

Looking forward to a cool little stout tasting this weekend. Classic IRS and Espresso IRS. Classic Yeti and Espresso Yeti. And the finish - 2 years of Parabola. Had to get one more epic stout tasting in before it's 90-100 every day...
