Anybody else watching tonight? I'm not a huge fan, but I like and respct GSP. And I'm not big on shit talking, so I'm hoping he wipes the floor with Diaz in the title fight. http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=5906427

Sucks Diaz didn't get submitted or KOd but he lost every round, still talked shot the while time, and then post fight after saying he wasn't going to make excuses, made a ton of them as part of a barely coherent stream of consciousness rant. What an assclown. I should have known the last time I was watching and a dude was flipping off and taunting while getting his ass handed to him...was Nate Diaz, Nicks little bro. Stupid runs in the family. The 2nd to last fight was the fight of the night.

Used to be a big UFC fan, espcially Faber. Now it's one notch below professoinal boxing in terms of hype but quickly rising (that's not good). The fighters are incredible atheletes though. Haven't watched a fight in a few years. Haven't paid for a fight in probably 7-8 years. If this keeps up, the hype will be more important than the fight and you will be even-steven with pro boxing. They need more GSP and less Diaz/Sonnen and every other big mouth that doesn't deliver.

boxing hype is massive, UFC will never get that popular but to even say that is odd. Boxing hasn't been relevant since Tyson. and to have more GSP's?? he is a once in a decade fighter. he is a machine, thats like saying every nba game should be played against teams of Jordan clones. you need to watch UFC, you seem to have a rather skewed view of it. Diaz is a good fighter, has amazing hands, and tough. he always entertains but what a low life. with his recent arrests, pathetic attitude, and him saying he has NEVER paid taxes. he really deserves jail and not fame.

Suds, I agree about the irrelevance of boxing. Kinda. uFC is seemingly more popular, but the numbers don't say that. Boxing PPV dwarves UFC. and I'd bet nobody took home 5% of what mayweather or the over the hill pack man bring in. I personally think boxing has lost it's mojo, but they're still making a shit ton.

My view of boxing/UFC is far from skewed. Boxing is living off of the past but still reaping huge rewards still to this day. You must be knocking back a few to think that boxing hasn't been relevant since Tyson. When De La Hoya was fighting 10 years ago, when Mayweather was fighting 4-5 years ago...payouts were huge and attendance was huge. The list of hugely popular fighters in the past 10 years is long. But I get what you're saying...the HW division is THE division. You can have 8 Roy Jones Jrs., 5 Bernards Hopkins, 4 De La Hoyas and 3 Pacquiao's and still not amount to what 1 HW fighter can bring in in terms of excitement. I said we need more people like GSP...which is to say they need to be a stand-up person, puts the sport first and attitude last..I wasn't talking about his fighting skill..very few fighters can match him...Silva, Gracie...Fitch maybe? I've been fortunate enough to meet Uriah Faber a few times, the Shamrocks and the Diaz brothers as they are all from an area about an hour or less from where I work. The Shamrocks (even Papa Shamrock) are really good people. Faber's a good guy too but the Diaz brothers are punks...both got a huge chip on their shoulder and both love the refer way, way too much. I'm fine with missing out on major fights, as they typically turn out crappy. I will catch reruns, and still support Faber when he fights. When Chuck Liddel and Randy Coture hung it up, the concept of letting your actions in the ring decide your popularity retired with it. But I guess in a sport with so much testosterone and adrenaline, the loudmouth will always be there.

It's a generational thing. You have WAY more guys w/ mortgages that will splurge on a "big fight" in boxing, than the monthly UFC fight with someone they have no idea about. But they know when a big fight is about to go down because their old man talked about boxing with reverance. UFC is attracting the 20-something w/o a mortgage, w/o any kids and who wear the Affliction/Skin/shirt-of-the-day and who will plunk down the $40-50 every 2 months for a UFC fight. I'm with ya. Boxing has clearly lost any resemblance of it's former glory. Once the baby boomers die out, once the Generation X'ers die out...if UFC still has a heart beat you better believe that if boxing doesn't do something UFC will be the dominant sport because it's fan base will have been long gone.

GSP cast as a villain in the next Captain America sequel. He reminds me of Van Damme, who was a villain before he became an action hero.
