General Beer Discussion by SLOWRUNNER77
My wife is spending a few days here (1315 16th Street NW - Intersection of Rhode Island NW & 16th St. NW Washington, District Of Columbia 20036). Anybody have any suggestions for breweries that sell to go, or good local bottle shops? She's willing to bring me a few back, but I am totally unfamiliar with the area...

I live in Alexandria but I make it up to the city often, so I'll offer some help. This is a great time to come to DC Area for beer! Top recommendation is Saturday growler fill at DC Brau. Your Favorite Foreign Movie medalled at GABF. The Corruption IPA is outstanding. Other breweries in DC: Chocolate City, 3 Stars, Port City, many more within 25 miles if she has time. Comprehensive list is here http://philosfx.blogspot.com/2012/05/burgeoning-brewing-scene-in-our-nations.html Bottle shops near 16th & Rhode Island: Top picks: Schneider's of Capitol Hill, BeerMap Score 90 Chevy Chase Wine & Spirits, BeerMap Score 88.5 others of note: 1 W Dupont Circle Wine and Liquor Arrowine Capital Beer & Wine Cairo Wine & Liquor Store Modern Liquors Inc. Whole Foods Market, P Street Further away but recommended Norms in Vienna Rick's Wine & Gourmet in Alexandria Village Pump Liquors in College Park

Bottle shops: simple. If she loves you, she'll hop on the nearby red line and head up a few stops. Probably a half mile walk on both ends of a ~5 stop metro ride of about 10-15mins. A bit much, especially if carrying a big package.... but.... how much does she love you? Haha.

She doesn't love me that much. OR...I love her too much to ask this of her. I'll stick to the ones closer to where she'll be. Thanks for the info guys!
