Early-mid winter seasonals

General Beer Discussion by SLOWRUNNER77

What's coming out, annual or special release, that you are looking forward to the most? (I'm also counting on y'all to remind me of a few I'm sure to forget). One of my few every year buys, Deschutes Jubelale is already out, as is my favorite old ale, Great Divide Hibernation (I think - can't get it here anyway [:(!]). Sam Adams Chocolate Bock too (though I wish I could buy a sixer, it's still a steal for the mix pack). November sees the release of Deschutes Abyss 2012, Firestone Walker 16, Stone Double Bastard, & Anchor Our Special Ale. 11-13 will also see a special release of Founders 15th AV, 15% Barleywine, Bolt Cutter (don't expect to see this one either). The only anticipated December release I can think of (since most holiday beers will be out long before) is DFH Immort Ale. Then January, and the arrival of my favorite hoppy brew: HOPSLAM!!

See...I forgot about Celebration. I'll be getting a sixer of that as well. Or splitting one.

Local spiced Christmas Ales are already creeping out, I pass on them anyway since they're not to my liking very much. Hibernation is already out, this along with Old Jubiliation are two I look forward to every year. And can't wait for my 1st 12 pack of SN Celebration, should be seeing that any week now!
I usually go through a couple 12 packs of Celebration. Always take it with me to Thanksgiving then just keep rolling with it!

I'm always looking out for the Belgian Christmas ale's, from St. Bernardus, Scaldis Noel, Affligem Noel, etc. Scaldis Noel might just be the perfect winter seasonal....might.

Excellent call, my personal favorite is Corsendonk Christmas.

For some reason, Corsendonk is kind of hard to get around here, but definitely a good call. I really like Scaldis.

Same here. It's very hit or miss for the Corsendonk. I did see the 750ml a few years back, and kick myself for not stocking up. Instead of that we get insanely HUGE amounts of the Ridgeway Christmas brews (Lump of Coal, Criminally Bad Elf, Murderous Elf, etc) which seem to sell well, but are always still enough hanging around in January to go on sale.

GL Christmas Ale arrived early this year, I happened to be in the Party Source when it arrived Thursday, and grabbed a case. By the time I got to the checkout, they announced a 1-case limit!

Is it just here, or is distribution of winter beers more staggered than usual? In year's past, things have showed up (relatively) at the same time. Now, we don't even get two simultaneous released from the same brewer at the same time (Sam Adams mix packs are here, but not the large format bottle that was released at the same time)...
