upping prices on game day

General Beer Discussion by MATTFUNGUS

I just learned that the liquor store one block north of Krolls West in Green DOES NOT up its prices on game day during home games. This surprised me as it seems some liquor stores and some bars apparently do do that if they are within walking distance to lambeau. Does this happen at other stadiums. I was shocked to hear this even happens and I hope its only a rumor.

Yeah the more I think of it, said store would probably lose my business.

This is not uncommon. In fact, many of you who have ever been to a sports game near a stadium or one popular on game days have probably payed more for your drinks whether you realized or not. It's unfortunate, and disapointing but it's a business move. People are coming in to your place no matter what. It's game day. They're thirsty. Why not jack the price of a beer up 50 cents?

the thing i don't get about this (unless you live close by) is why go drink near the event??? you deserve to pay more if you go drinking by the game, and not at it.. [B)]

I get this in some cases, though i still think it's bush league. Take Elysian for granted. One of their 3 Seattle brew pubs is right there by SafeCo(?) field. Granted it's "only" the Mariners and Seahawks, but they don't charge a cent more than they do at the other pubs, game day or not. They actually run specials. Could they charge more? More than likely. But I respect the fact that they choose not to.
