Angels Envy

Non-Beer Discussion by SLOWRUNNER77

Anyone had this bourbon? Tried it last night for the first time. Started off pretty hot, but as it breathed, it opened up quite nicely. It's pretty unique in that it's port barreled and has a sweetness in it totally different from what you'd usually find in a bourbon.

Thanks for all the wonderful comments about Angel's Envy. I am new to the Board, and honestly, new to beer (although my father created Jack Daniels Beer----that's another discussion altogether), but getting more interested as brewers are using bourbon barrels for some great things. Looking forward to learning more. Wes Henderson Chief Operating Officer Louisville Distilling Company

Welcome Wes! We could ALWAYS use expert advice about bourbon. Many of us love other spirits besides beer. Chime in any time.

Yes - welcome! I can tell you that any beer barreled in Angels Envy or Woodford Reserve barrels will be bought by me!!

Buffalo Trace has been ruin't for me. After multiple tastings of Angel's Envy, Blanton's, Pappy, Hudson Baby Bourbon... The Buffalo Trace last night was like drinking Newcastle after getting back from GABF. It still may be my favorite cheap bourbon, but I may be drinking less cheap bourbon.

I knew I was sayin it wrong. Current rotation Angels Envy, Hudsons (Baby Bourbon), Blantons (original single barrel), and Willets. Buffalo Trace and Maker's Mark have fallen out of favor...
