The Stone Anniversary (weekend) is quite festival-like. 8/17 & 18. The middle two days among 4 days of revelry planned.

It has begun. I always hope timing is good to snag a few rarities in my travels. Alesmith especially, seems to have some crazy version of Speedway on tap all the time. But it's already begun 6 days before we get there. I came across a Facebook post that Alesmith was selling 2010 BA Decadence tonight (they'd be gone by the end of the night)...I assumed they meant they were selling them THERE, but I just paid for two bottles via paypal to be picked up next Thursday. Made my day!!

While I'm sure it will only be 1% as good as the REAL Beer, Blues & BBQ bash held annually in Tennessee by Brother Lou, next weekend I have to be in McMinnville,OR for the Oregon Brews and BBQ (and maybe some blues since there will be live music.) Nice selection of Oregon and a few Cali brews, and tasty BBQ- all for a great cause! What that cause is exactly, I can't really tell you because I have no idea. The website just says it is. I've been to several beer festivals, Toronto has several a year. We have "Ontario Craft Beer Week" in September or October, "Toronto Craft Beer Week" in June, "Toronto Festival of Beer" in August, and one of the local bars (Bar Volo) has "Cask Days" as well as the annual IPA challenge. For those who want tpo try lots of beers, they also have "Sessions" which features over 100 different beers in too small an area to accomodate hundreds of people. The negative with Toronto beer meets is you have a lot of people from RateBeer/BeerAdvocate who think "BeerPal is for pussies" and think they know everything. A very elitist group who think that if they don;t know you, they should be in front of you in line. The other negative is that a lot of the local brewers brew insufficient amounts of their offs. Prices are usually decent, admission ranges from $10 - $30 and gets you your glass and samples are usually $1 for 4oz (similar to the time I went to the GABF in 2006). Great beer, shitty people is how I define Toronto beer festivals.

Anyone in or around Reno 11/3? I went to this the first year and missed the last couple, but they REALLY stepped up the selection this year. Got tickets last night. https://www.facebook.com/CANFEST

Looking forward to this on Saturday. Have a group of 3 going with a few friends likely to be there as well. This morning I got an email that I've won two VIP tickets, and since we've been good to go for a month, gave them to a coworker who'll be meeting us there after work (she can't get off early because I already have the last hour off). [:D]
