Little Rock

General Beer Discussion by CHEFCHAD

I have a buddy coming back from Little Rock in a month. He has asked for a beer list to bring back...What is in Little rock that is good? I live in Nebraska.. we get a lot of beer here but not much of the east coast beers. I don't know if Ark. has any of those beers and beer mapping project is not working very well.. Please help.. thanx Chaddy

There is not much in Arkansas that you cannot get in Nebraska. Diamond Bear is decent and an AR bottled beer. I got a bunch of random Uinta (Utah) brews once in Fayetteville a couple of years ago, but from what I saw, there aren't any comparable beer stores in Little Rock. There may be some Choc and Mustang brews from Oklahoma. If your friend is driving through Fayetteville on the way, may be better to have him stop there at Liquor World. My brother got me some Pale Horse Extra Stout in AR a few months ago, brewed in OR, but absolutely fantastic, imho. If you want sheer entertainment value for how bad beer can get, tell him to get you some Refined Ale, brewed and self distributed in LR by a guy that doesn't even drink! Just brutal, but the only other bottling AR brewer besides Diamond Bear. He can also get brewpub stuff at Vino's, they are decent. I was not a fan of Bosco's. So short list - Diamond Bear, Pale Horse Export Stout, Choc and Mustang I have only had a few from them, can't couch for their quality.

There is a Boscos in downtown Little Rock, but you can only get growlers there - if they fill growlers. I ate dinner there and just drank beer on-premises. The Diamond BeerBrewing Co is in Little Rock. I have had a couple of their beers and enjoyed them. Brett knows more about them than I do. Good luck. Pretty city.
