Free Wort!

General Beer Discussion by MATTFUNGUS

Had an exciting event here in Green Bay today. Titletown sent their members this notice Wort Alert! Free wort TODAY. TODAY Thursday, 4/26 we're brewing an Imperial Stout! With a big beer like this, we always have extra wort, so if you homebrew, bring in a bucket, carboy, keg, bathtub, or anything else that holds liquid. (Ideally not glass, as it can crack when filled with hot wort.) We'll fill with the last runnings of our Imperial Stout. There will be two mashes. The first will be drained in the early afternoon and the second later afternoon/evening. When each goes to drain, we'll fill up whatever containers have been dropped off and put the containers outside the South door for you to collect at your leisure. With this I ran over to the Brewery store (just a block from titletown) and got a 2 gallon pail. At the store it was really hopping with everybody buying hops, yeast, carboys and pails, all customers intending on heading to Titletown. I dropped my bucket off at one, (yes mine was the smallest bucket) and deposited it with a pile of of about 20 containers from beaten up carboys, to brand new ale pails to metal kegs. At 4:00 I came back and there was my bucket, next to 6 large trash cans of spent malt. I brought it back to my office and looked inside. 2 gallons of sweet, dark second running. Tonight I will boil it and add the hops, pitch the yeast. This spontaneous event makes me wonder about all the different imperial stouts being made out there tonight. Who will have the superhoppy ones and who will add only a few. What would you do?
