Goose Island Black Toad Dark Ale

BeerPal Notice: This topic was created for discussion of the beer Goose Island Black Toad Dark Ale. I just bought a bottle of this beer at Trader Joe's - yeah Sunday alcohol sales in Georgia! - and it says that it is brewed by JosephsBrau in San Jose, CA. Anybody know what gives?

contracted out to GI I think...I beleive JosephsBrau is just a business (location) not an actual brewer. But I'm winging it and it's quite possible that I'm totally full of shit.

It used to be contract brewed at Coast Range in Gilroy, CA (were talking years ago). At least on the West Coast, it's contract brewed by Gordon Biersch.

Agree with stoutlover. Not sure why this is listed as a Goose Island Beer. My guess is that is dated info. It is currently Contract brewed by Gordon Biersch for Trader Joes, afaik. At least that is what I got when I bought a few months ago.

Kinda curious as to how it became associated with Goose Island. Someone approved the name change back in '05.
