Fresh Hop Beers

General Beer Discussion by MITCHFORGIE

So I had took intoxicating trip to Portland over the weekend, participated at Killer Beer Fest and had a great time. The guys at Beerpublic we're great hosts. That said I had dozens of 'Fresh Hop' beers on this trip, are they kosher to be added as new beers or are they lumped in with the normal brew?

Should be lumped in with the normal brews. If they kept the same hop profile, recipe, then it is still the same beer. Note it in your rating what you had. Glad you had a great time - I might get down there for Nov 12th release of HotD stuff - interested?

I just bumped up my average score for Mirror Pond after having the tastier fresh hop version. Others, like Great Divide Fresh Hop Pale and Denver Pale Ale, are seperate entries because they are not the same recipe/beer. In general, I really dig the fresh hop brews. Just had my first Surly WET of the year last night. Yuuuuuuummy!

Despite my logic with the same recipe comment, Stouts post brings up the point which I didn't make in this instant and feel somewhat strongly about - noting it in your review - Fresh hop just aint the same beer despite the ingredients. Now your review mark represents the fresh hop version. It should stand alone. Flip flop without a really good reason! I just did that. Database wise it makes sense to lump it in but it IS a different beer.
