Pittsburgh has a REAL hockey team.......Memphis doesn't Pittsburgh has a REAL football team......Memphis doesn't Pittsburgh has a REAL baseball team......Memphis doesn't and since I could care less about the NBA.............. Now, Memphis does have St. Jude's, quite possibly the finest children's research hospital anywhere (and paid my bills for a few years). However, having lived in Memphis(and never having been mugged) and never living in Pittsburgh...........and the fact that Memphis averages an inch of snow a year, that usually melts the same day........I'll have to pick Memphis. But I stand by my ...."Pittsburgh's not a bad city" statement

My only knock against Memphis is that beautiful, scenic drive on Highway 78 [B)] that is almost as bad as that beautiful, scenic drive on the very same Highway 78 that approaches Birmingham from Memphis [B)][B)]... wanna see a drug deal go down, a liquor store knocked off, a police chase - on foot and via car? Make that drive; I've seen D) all of the above in at least one of those locations on Highway 78. Happy motoring!

The original post about traveling with the kids across the country reminds me ever so slightly of the time that I got on an airplane with my (then) 18-month old and (then) 4-year old and flew to Germany - Birmingham to Atlanta, Atlanta to Frankfurt. me and the kids met my wife there and spent 10 days driving around the country - and had a great time... but then I had to get back on the plane... with the kids and make the return trip.

Wow... Lou won this thread a long time ago with that picture sequence, f'n hilarious... there is nothing anyone can post to top that. [:D] And, for the record, put me in the growing list of people who would rather live in Seattle than the Pitts, economical standing be damned.

At my current job..........we could field a couple of cricket teams (22 players for those unfamiliar)before we could ice 6 guys for a hockey team..............and I can see the Holy Temple of Hockey from my office window. God knows where the nearest cricket field is............
