Woo wee - my momma does it RIGHT! Tossed in corn meal and fried 'til crispy, learned it from my mammaw, eat that stuff like popcorn, better than fried yellow squash!

buy the okra smallish, cut it into jalapeno-slice size slices, touch of oil, good amount of fresh cornmeal, shake it up in a bag, fry that shit up in hot-assed oil until almost black. OoooowwwwwWeeee Hoss, that is the Shit! Been eating it all my life. Might try some hot sauce on it some time. Usually a little salt and black pepper is all it needs. Maybe some Tiger Seasoning Salt would be good. Hell, I'm serious, it's like popcorn. Just damn good.

My wife dredges it in buttermilk/egg with a dash of hot sauce before a flour/cornmeal mixture with some Tony Chachere's or some such Cajun seasoning... damn fine.

I made jambalaya last night (Justin Wilson's - the original Cajun cook) and what better to have with it than fried okra for a little crunch, so my wife made her extraordinary fried okra that I refered to earlier, served it with an Abita Amber... a great meal.
