How often do you drink "swill"? (Mass produced lagers like Bud or Coors) -All the time!........Hand over that cooler Jimmy. -I mix it up about 50/50 with good beer. -Sometimes, maybe once or twice a month. -Rarely, maybe once or twice a year. -Never! I'll drink water over swill. Inspired by the "I had a Coors Light" thread, how often do you Grab Some Buds ? I'm actually kind of surprised this hasn't been asked before.

Some people on here are going to have a very different answer to that question (Brad Pear, I'm looking in your direction...). I buy cheap macros about once a month. On second thought, that probably works out to be the same as the 50/50 option.

For me, this has been directly correlated with how much I am willing to spend. When I first started getting into craft beer, it was rarely as I always had new stuff to try. Then it became sometimes, just to change it up. Now, I would say about 50/50. Two things, first, sometimes a cheap pale lager hits the spot. Second, I don't always want to spend the money, and for the swill I buy, a 12 pack is cheaper than a sixer of good beer. What happened to Fat Cat? It was a contract brewed dark lager, somewhere between a pale lager and a Vienna, very tasty for the price, but I can't find it anymore. I will drink it if that's all I have to choose from at a party, although nowadays it seems like every party has some local craft beer. I'll also admit to drinking Becks on flights because US Airways only offers Bud, Bud Light and Becks in first class. I usually just get bloody marys instead!

Once or twice a year when there are no other options and I'm gonna have one for the heck of it. Ordinarily, I'd rather have water and not waste the liver. That's not a cut on swill, it's just the way it is.

I had a couple camping last week and it was the first time this year. Cheap or not, I just don't like it enough to bother. Pale lagers rarely hit the spot for me. If I'm drinking for thirst, I'll have a Gatorade, or a Coconut water, etc...if I want a beer, it most likely will not be swill. On a hot summer night, nothing wrong with a good pils or ipa for a buck or so. Farg said it good...beer drinking doesn't have to be an "experience" every time, but for me, that doesn't = drinking fizzy yellow pee pee water. For what it's worth, I prefer the Canadian Swill...or a Coors.
