I had a Coors Light

General Beer Discussion by STOUTLOVER72

Neighbor gave me one. Doing yard work and thought I needed it I guess. It didn't have the Super Cold bar activated, but it did have the Cold bar. Gone in 30 seconds. Why do people drink this stuff again? I could had seltzer water and it would have had the same effect. It was quenching though.[^] Had to be honest.

Is it just me or is Millercoors spending more on advertising than ever before? Particularly on gimmicks like "mountain cold" stickers, "ventilator" boxes, "micro carbonated" molson. Etc. Rather than spend millions on ridiculous gimmicks why not diversify your beer offering a little bit? I don't get it.

Since we're fessin' up, guess I should throw out my mea culpa as well. Spent a long weekend away recently for a friends wedding. And the hospitality suite was overly stocked with just Corona and Corona light. Must have drunk a case of it over the weekend. Eventually I made my own beer run and picked up a 22 of Arrogant Bastard and a sixer of Four Peaks Kilt Lifter. But that only lasted so long. [:(]

You're probabl right. They see their market share sagging a little, and instead of spending $$$$ investing in a better quality product, they just do a better job of marketing it. It's like the music industry these days. It's better to market the shit outta some no-talent hack with perfect hair, instead of investing in 5-6 talented musicians that resemble Quasimodo. They're only giving what the masses what they want.

What a philosophical question.... Is it what they want? Or is it just what they think they want? For example, (occupational reference here), most people in America could not imagine life without a car, and any hint that their car freedom is at stake can incite fury. (See any city planning public hearing or "car-mageddon") Yet, on return from Europe, where most areas are pedestrian oriented if not pedestrian only, they cannot forget the loveliness of it all, yet do not know what about it they liked. Similar experiences are Disneyland, or any resort destination, because those developers know that vacationers do not want to sit in traffic, its bad for business. On a beer note, how many people have you introduced to craft beer, and they love it, or at least are surprised by how different it is? Its not because they wanted swill, but because they did not know an alternative existed. Again it begs the questions, with swills market share decreasing why focus more on whats not working rather than what is (craft brewing)

had a few servings o swill camping at tahoe this weekend mixed in with a few good ones. the good: growler of stone smoked porter, sierra nevada regulars and new belgium seasonals. the bad: tecate, michelob ultra the ugly: bud light, mich ultra lime cactus [:p] had to correct the palate when we got home with a 2010 old boardhead and a ballast point victory at sea.

Only beer I've ever turned down. Alas, it is the number one selling beer in the GTA, perhaps all of Ontario. I think people drink it cause quite simply they buy into the hype of "light beer" ie: it's non-fattening, a misnomer, and it's not as strong so therefore you won't get a buzz. At least i can see people trying to rationalize it that way

Did you feel the Rocky Mountains cool breeze?[;)]
Sam Elliot only talks to you if have the banquet beer...not the light stuff. I dig Coors for swill, but I'd rather have water than the light.
Shit up here it's John O'Hurley the dude from Seinfeld and Family Feud
