well.. considering the top 100 is somewhat flawed- it don't matter dick.... ex. how can a beer that has 11 reviews, is almost undrinkable now, and hasn't been reviewed in over 5 years be in the top 100... but back to the point- espresso yeti is awesome!!

agreed. How about beers that have not been reviewed in the last 2 years are exempt from the top 50 or at least get a retired or something etc etc...

i get what you guys are sayin, but there's beers that are new/out now or out in the last couple years that don't get reviewed much on this site because theres just not many people reviewing beers on this site. i'm all for dropping a beer out because it's actually a beer that hasn't been made for years...like Stone 6th Av, Rodenbach Alexander, etc...have them on a retired list. But drop beers because beerpals ain't drinking/rating em? bad idea. everyone top whatever lists are flawed, but that doesn't mean that it's worthless. at the least it's entertaining to see how the top 50-150 fluctuate. LOVE me some Yeti!!!
I think there is a lot of leeway here. First, I agree completely that the lack of traffic on this site results in several 'active' beers going without ratings for years (or ever in some cases). I don't see any reason why any of those beers should be dropped from the ratings lists Second, I think there was a mention earlier that in order for a beer to be considered for the Top XXX lists, it needs to have a minimum amount of ratings. I agree with that, although I think 50 is too high, the number of beers with 50+ reviews on this site is quite low that Budweiser might make the cut. Out of the top 50 current beers, only 25 have 50+ ratings, while 43 have 20+ ratings (maybe we start with baby steps) Third, If we include beers like Rodenbach Alexander (last brewed over 3 years before this site went live), we should allow ALL retired beers into the database. The fact is that people don;t come here because it's a rating site, they come here for the social aspect. Maybe we should work on making it true beer database and include historical beers, especially from the craft era (I'm also pretty sure I'm not the only one). I ocassionally read about how people here want to be different than the 'other' beer sites, that is one way of doing it! After all, I can think of dozens of beers I have tried (and have notes on) that have come and gone since this site went live.............something that Alexander can't even claim! We need to be more open-minded (and use a LOT more numbers/stats). Dare to be different..............but taking lightly reviewed beers and not counting them is too restrictive is not the answer. Finally, as many beers are seasonal and only made for a short time (Stone Anniversary beers, Unibroue Anniversary beers, etc) then we should have a separate 'Top Anniversary' category for them............or in the case of a completely retired beer that was a long-time regular (like Rodenbach Alexander), have a 'Top Retired' list. We'll never be able to satisfy everybody. I've had the Yeti beers a few dozen times, I think it's an average beer. I wouldn't haven't anywhere near the top 1000, let along the top 100. But some of the stout loving masses beg to differ. I have a friend who can try a Miller Lite side by side with a Westvleteren 12, and he honestly prefers the Miller Lite (and he's still a friend). It's all about individual tastes.
